Why would blizzard not give at least one pvp and one pve to west and east

That’s not how any of this works, there’s still technical limitations. You can’t expand infinitely

The server time zone doesn’t matter. If you take the same people on the same servers they are going to raid at the same times.

People would would start a guild that raids at 7pm est aren’t going to push their raid time 3 hours because of the server time.

I guess everyone on the single RP normal server lives on the east coast, right? … Two servers is enough with layering…there will be queues for the first few weeks on fresh you either deal with it or not. You want the server to be populated, not to have one mega fresh server and ghost towns for the rest which based on history of Classic is bound to happen. I could see maybe ping being an issue but is ~25ms vs 40-50 ms noticeable? Possible, I suppose.

It could be culture i suppose? I may “Bay area culture” Is much different then small town culture in the U.S people tend to forget these things. But overall I think people are making a mound out of mole hill. Unless they’re from really Central

Because U.S Central just gets the best of no one, at least Mountian time zones and Our Island states / Commonwealths have close to a U.S Server Purito rico / Alaska / Hawaii aren’t to bad in a spot, if you look at a map.

Maybe, i just never had this problem myself. But i’m bias since i’ve played on national global servers. I also only played on Grob which is U.S West. But has a Massive east coast population as well as Aussies and some Brits. so finding a huge east coast population wasn’t hard at all.

I know a lot of people from the east coast are rolling on the fresh PVP server

I think West is just the most fair over all, since Aussies are not getting anything there Tech is best suited for a West coast server. East coast American’s don’t struggle at all Tech wise on a West server.

A very good chunk of Latin America and South America can run Tech on West coast better then East coast as well.

Remember Blizzard only wanted 1 server, not more.

“I’m pvp server all the way”

“Ugh can’t believe these guys are ganking outside of Honor Hold”

Technically true you can’t expand infinitely but unless you think the fresh server is going to overwhelm the US West data centre you can functionally spin up layers as needed.

I think Benediction had 20 something layers on BC launch. Queues were put in classic because they wanted to have a layerless experience past phase 1 but they quickly abandoned that idea

it should of been 1 west, 1 east pvp servers

It’s not even about full physical server capacity. They’re limited by how they built the non-physical server architecture, there is a limit to how many layers they can have on a single server and how big that server can be. This is why they locked down firemaw, they couldn’t expand it more.

You’re still dealing with code written pre-2004.

this is really killing my hype to play

That’s not true, they’re using the same client/infrastructure as Shadowlands. The reason there’s any dev work associated with this project is because they’re making the old code compatible with the current infrastructure/services. If they were stuck using the old infrastructure code the servers wouldn’t be able to handle layering and we’d be capped at much smaller server sizes than we are now.

The reason servers still have a cap is because there’s still underlying infrastructure that has to manage a seamless experience for players between layers and that has a limit to how much it can handle.

cant wait till this blows up on them with 5-hour ques and getting dropped . but will never know because so many people will just say to hell with it i am not waiting and that’s that. Fact is bliz doesn’t know how big this will be of people thinking about coming back that haven’t been playing for years. but when they see a full server with ques you think they will come back for this crap, nope.

Shadowlands server infrastructure is still based on code for 2004. You can’t just wipe all that out, it still has limiting factors based.

I wasn’t saying that ALL the server code is from pre2004, it’s just based in code from 2004.

It’s like people who say “just change the engine” you can’t, you can update it, adapt it, but you can’t just easily rip it out and change it.

Sure most games would love to be able set their server architecture up like GW2.

You’re also right as well though, there’s a lot of inter-server communication that likely also limits how big a single server can get.

they will be opening new servers tomorrow i am betting after the backlash from this start

And if they do those servers will die horrible deaths, probably “Wrather” quickly.

there only good for 90 days anyway lol after that everybody will just do what they were doing before

“min” of 90 days.

Because players would disregard timezones and just stack factions.

They saw Classic and they saw SOM. Gotta protect you from yourselves.

People can come back after years and pay for a boost on a established server instead of having to lvl

So you would rather take a risk of adding more servers then you need and having ghost towns rather then wait and see if you need more servers? How many servers were there for launch of classic? And how many are available now?

lol thats not the real point of playing on a fresh server , people want the no economy no f…king gdkp runs no chinese farmers no gold sellers, thats the reason people want fresh servers has nothing to really do with anything else , and pvp wise if your not on first your dead!!
