Why werent any expansions as fleshed out and evergreen as classic?

in classic, before raids even release, before you even reach max level, you can literally start collecting your pre-raid best in slot for final raid of the game, naxx… from things like quests…

why in tf have i been playing a seasonal version of this game when this version has been available?? for almost 20 years LOL

i had some idea that classic had overlapping gear between tiers… but not to this extent… i seriously love how everything is so one and done, and forever.

my main has only gotten gear from quests, dungeons, and pvp, but its ready to step into the final raid of the game that hasnt even released yet. extremely satisfying.

Everything is seasonal , and you gota keep doing it for season stuff, thats why people play

Is that how it works in Classic?

Well, I started in Wrath, but, back then, if I kitted out with the regular heroic gear (mostly 187s and some 200s, maybe some 200 ilvl crafted items) and tried to step into ICC, I was going to

  1. Die
  2. Not get invited

So I’m not sure how this paradigm works in Classic?

At one point mid TOC progression I got keylogged and lost all my gear. I had to regear in a flash, rerunning raids and Naxx at least.

yes and even classic has some seasonal aspects, which im glad people get to chase if they want to, but you don’t necessarily have to keep up with it as you do with the modern versions of the game. which is fantastic imo.

Because they worked on WoW since like 1999, something like that.

And it arrived in late 2004.

At least five years, minimum.

Even TBC was delayed back then- they cared more about quality, old Blizzard.

Modern expansions are lucky to even get three years in the oven.

TWW obviously came out undercooked.

wotlk was by far my favorite version until i put some time into classic recently, i can now see why some people see tbc and wotlk as completely different games from it.

what if you was raiding you need to get every buff, potion flask and bis if you was going to raid in classic

Happy for you but that sounds awful.

Retail is less focused on acquiring highly specific pieces of gear; it’s more skill-based with multiple viable endgame setups. The idea is to acquire the gear that best fits your playstyle with a given spec (especially trinkets and weapons) rather than it is to follow a static shopping list.

I am happy retail is not that boring.

they reduced the price of saving your world buffs significantly and i dont find them too difficult or time consuming to get, especially if your raid is good and you can use one set of world buff for three weeks in a row.

and yes i can see how gold might be an issue for people who dont want to make a mage for their account, but they are a simple ticket to having 0 gold troubles.

this was the og way not the new classic version
to save it you would have to log off for a few day or so

yea im pretty happy with the few changes they’ve made to classic, like world buffs and the pvp system. im not sure id like it as much without these changes.

Classic was so “evergreen” that they rebooted and changed almost everything with Cata

oh classic is ever green alright, ever green in their pockets because nostalgia is one helluva drug.
