Ah the old Games Workshop mindset… Canon what’s that?
It’s a major reason I don’t bother with 40k anymore, nothing matters.

I’ve watched quite a few of Luetin’s videos now to know the lore for WH40K is just a mess of - “Throw it on the wall and see what sticks”. It does have it’s cool parts and the artwork is amazing, though.
I always liked how the Elder Scrolls handled the contradictory lore. It’s either true or a bunch of bologna depending on who you ask in game and it’s up to you to decide who is telling the truth.
And the unreliable narrator would have worked really well for WoW if that was they had from the beginning. Than it just becomes a matter of who you want to believe as a player.
Grim Dawn has a similar approach to their lore as well.
Fully agreed. Unreliable narrator can fully work, you just need to use it correctly.
It works better when you remember that WH40K is less a story being told and more of a setting meant to hold cool stuff for the war game. The characters and “plot” or the idea of making the universe feel “real”, while they do get some attention, have never really been the point.
Most likely the devs were sick and tired of Night Elves by this point.
And then everything is a dream.
And a bunch of time warping stuff also happens.
The problem with the Baine questline is excruciatingly simple : Baine is toast as a character. He is stained and beyond saving and unfortunately I don’t think anything could possibly make me reconsider how I feel about him. See, the problem is as follows : theoretically, would the idea of Mulgore Tauren completely losing it upon dealing with the Maruuk Centaur make up for a compelling and natural story to tell ? Absolutely. But you can’t use Baine to tell that story. If you use Baine to tell that story, I’m going to find it annoying, awkward, almost funny—it’s just not going to land.
Some characters have been handled historically poorly but still deserve to be fixed, both in regards to what they represent to the fans and in regards to what they could bring to the narrative were they truly put back on track. Thrall, for example.
But Baine is just too far off.
Jeez, what took them so long ?
Had to “rotate” a few people to positions better suited to their skill sets… or something similar told to them by HR so they don’t think about it too much…
Not even…
CAIPHAS CAIN, HERO OF THE IMPERIUM?
Heresy, I say. although full disclosure I only follow the Emperor’s podcast.
Is that new lore from the MMO? Or somewhere else?
What if Blizz is keeping her human because they want to make her marry Anduin, uniting the two kingdoms as a result.
Except they already gave us a no regarding that from Before the Storm there is a decent chance Anduin will marry a commoner.
Is not “confirmed” lore but it is pretty much a strong theory since morrowind, basically the entire universe is the dream of a sleeping god.
I thought that was confirmed. Cause the whole point of CHIM in lore is that basically someone realizes they are within a dream of said god, and become lucid, and so they then can just do whatever the hell they want since they know it’s a dream.
It’s as good as anyone gets. If you want to be ignored, like the Horde, then fine. We can all get behind that.
But it is clear that it is never going to be “good enough” and the demands for content that will satisfy will never end and everyone else will keep being shut out.
I honestly don’t see how that’s any different than Death Knights having a need to cause pain and suffering. That facet gets ignored because Blizzard still thinks they are cool.
I see the apple doesnt fall far from the tree.
Well, her story arc sucks and Blizzard’s intent sucks.
