Why were Class Halls abandoned?

It’s the shaman’s fault. You know the saying: People in class houses shouldn’t throw stones.

Our class hall should be floating above the Dragon Isles right now.

I think one reason for abandoning class halls was they were an inefficient allocation of developer resources.

Every class needed their own class hall. A lot of resources were spent developing each hall, and only the small fraction of players playing that class experienced it.

This meant a lot of time and effort developing parallel content. A better use of resources would be to develop content every player experiences.

Is it really hard to prepare a few few fetch quests around Azeroth, based on the classes, to give the players some often requested transmog sets?

Going forward with the concept would make sense.
But blizzard are so useless thet still don’t understand what wings really do.

Idk I miss them though and thought they were the reason legion thrived.

But like clockwork. They throw away all their successes (the very few) every 2 years and start over. For some reason.

They were cool. But can my next class hall not be in a friggin sewer?

Oh, I’m sure they do understand the concept… but with Ion Hazzikostas ruling over the decisions, he really isn’t the kind of person who has the understanding for such things. He is just the raid guy who loves to count the beans and have superb battle ideas but that’s all to it in the end.

As far as I am concerned, he is just the “go by the book”-guy. Someone with bit more caliber would actually use the already finished assets in a better way for the good for the team and the players. So much potential wasted for simply doing only raids. Incredible, how such people are allowed to have power in their positions. It’s so a basic concept to see what people want from this game and yet they need to fight for every inch. Something, what FF14 has done better, imo. The fun is to have fun but they started to catch up with this concept in Dragonflight. It is a start, I guess.

Why were garrisons abandoned? A fortress capable (with magic) to be transported around and serving as our centralized forward base and able to be retrofitted/updated to serve whatever practical need we have.

Why was Torghast abandoned? A literal tower that contains the lost souls of countless worlds that could have contained treasures and rewards from every corner of the literal universe along with a canonical need to free these souls from their damned and “unfair” existence to such a hellish place under the renewed and newfound purpose of the current Arbiter.

Why is our Heart of Azeroth defunct? It at least made sense in Shadowlands since we weren’t connected directly anymore to Azeroth the planet but now that we are back on our own world, why aren’t we looking to upgrade and improve our bond with our planet titan and seek out greater powers from her awakening and healing self?

With so many potential evergreen systems, it would be super punishing to newcomers because it could take them literal IRL years to effectively catch up. Even if you divorce power rewards from them, it would still feel bad to lack all the cool and convenience/treasure filled things everyone else has even during your downtime or know you got a ton of time and effort ahead of you to catch up and work those respective systems.

There’s no reason to KEEP doing that, especially when competitors like FFXIV are providing things like proper scaling for old raids, reasons to farm mats from old content, heck, people even do bizarre old grinds like Eureka, long since detached from real power gains, without having Chromie show up and try to drag them to Dragon World.

That would make the story even more of a dumpster fire than it already is. And dark vs light has already been done, and at a quality level that dwarfs anything Blizzard could ever crap out.

Can’t you still do this? Every time I take my druid to Broken Isles I have to hear the dreaded “I got your back Archdruid!”

This is a good point especially since some Titan shenanigans are obviously still going on

Oh no I have to be very specific or people wont understand what I mean.

That was one of the reasons Legion was so awesome! You could level up a different class and it wasn’t an exact replay every time.

2 things.

  1. Blizzard CONSTANTLY creates expansion features and refuses to bring them beyond the expansion. It’s intentional, for some reason. They like things being unique to an expansion. Dumb, but it’s what they do.
  2. The class questlines ate into normal content a lot during Legion. They realized t his when people started complaining about how 7.2 felt like filler, because the generalized questing experience was constantly “kill 12 imps” >> wait a week >. “collect 10 pinecones” and that was literally it. They put all their effort into the individual class questlines, so players only sticking to 1 or 2 characters just had no content. They’ll probably never do it again.

Yeah… But classes halls in specific is a more glaring example because of how it ties with the main player expression in the game, the class you play.

It’s such a shame, they are the elite representation of x,y or z and yet they don’t have any involvement with relevant threats.

There’s still time, though, to revitalize the Class Halls as a staple for class expression that ties with side narratives for each expansion.
