Edit: To be clear I meant Challenge mode-like rewards, as in rewarding weapons/armor from m+. So that could be a recolor of the current tier sets for classes and an arsenal of recolored raid weapons.
Is there a reason we don’t have something like WoD/MoP challenge modes every season? For those who don’t know, challenge modes were timed dungeon runs similar to m+. MoP had a unique class set for reaching Gold in every dungeon, WoD had a set of unique weapons for hitting Gold.
I know it would be a lot more work developing another unique set every season and/or unique weapons but it seems worthwhile because if you look at M+ participation in just bfa alone, it skyrocketed when the mount reward for 2k was added (can check achievement completion for KSM, went from 4-5% to 20+% once mount was added). At the very very least, there should be recolors from the raid offered if making unique sets/weapons would be too much. Recolored raid weapons and a Unique class set offered from like 2800 in m+ and/or maybe all 28s completed, etc.
People like doing things for cool rewards, even if its something a lot of people will do naturally as they have fun doing it, getting really cool stuff along the way makes it even better and will also definitely motivate a lot of people to try out m+ or push further than they usually do like myself. M+ reward track is pretty outdated, there is basically nothing cosmetic wise above 2k. There is the mount at 2k, and title at 0.1%. There is a lot of room to add in either a unique class set or a recolor of the tier, and unique weapons or recolored raid weapons in between those two ratings.
Yeah transmogs and weapons are what we’re talking about here though. Achievements don’t really matter, every piece of content gets those. The rewards we get aren’t great, the mount at 2k is nice but the portals need some work (getting an m+ portal room would be very nice, but currently using 1 portal puts all of them on an 8 hour CD) and they aren’t cosmetic stuff either. Basically all we really get cosmetically is a mount at 2k and a title at 0.1%, so my point is there is a lot of room in between those two spots to fit more cosmetic rewards.
I liked the idea for mythic looks for ur entire account after reaching 2500 io. Some of the best classes “Mythic looks” have dif colors then what we get at elite pvp or mythic raiding. The problem is that only some classes have some sort of good spell effects on their tier, so for most it feels kinda redundant.
I don’t think we will ever see the complexity we did for class armor, cm weapons or legion artifacts as we did in the past. The “epicness” of those kind of rewards is kinda gone from current blizzard intentions.
Perhaps more seasonal trading post stuff will be far more interesting then any M+, MR or Pvp, seems they are going on that direction.
I fully agree with that, yeah. I think it should get recolor of the tier, and then an arsenal of recolored raid weapons both at higher ratings. Theres nothing for 2800, so maybe put the tier set there, and the weapons could go to all 28s completed on time? or something along those lines.
I think they said something that stuff like challenge modes were not done by a big percentage so they don’t do them as often… and if they get appearances, rewards that they think will fit, then they design a mage tower, or challenge to award it.
So far I think a challenge mode, [didn’t play when mop was current] but sounds like a neat idea. I still wouldn’t run it with randoms since I don’t find that fun.
Other thing is the scenerio idea from mop seemed like something cool they could’ve used further on as even a story telling mechanic aand give some nice reward.
The biggest kick in the balls for me is how pvp gets a special DR form for rating (on top of the different set color) and m+ gets a ground locked mount.
In my eyes, the real crazy thing is that the PvP mounts are granted as both a skin for one of the dragons and an individual mount, while most of the raid mounts were only added as dragon skins.
So once we’re out of Dragonflight, you’ll have to tool your way to a rostrum if you ever want to switch from using Razsageth to Fyrakk or your custom Proto Drake, and that’ll be the only option to do that. I don’t particularly trust that TWW’s version of the rostrum will have the DF drakes listed either, considering they never did anything to make painting the Mechagon mounts less of a hassle.
Not sure what else it would be about. I was largely asking why unique rewards for pve via dungeons didn’t come forward with M+ despite it being perfect for adding rewards similar to what Challenge Mode dungeons offered. We can get a recolored tier set+recolored raid weapons from m+ for hitting certain ratings for example.
I agree that not having separate skins for the raid dragonriding skins was pretty sad. The glad mount was unique enough, getting a separate skin to use in the regular world should have been a regular thing for any of the full skin drakes.
To be clear though I don’t want a glad-esque mount for m+. I think the mount at 2k is fine ( I wish the one from this expac was better though, non dragonriding mount was crazy) I just want more rewards throughout the m+ rating system.
It basically falls off hard after 2k, you get portals for all 20s completed but you can only use 1 portal every 8 hours lmao, its not a good reward overall. M+ needs more cosmetic rewards throughout, ideally something at 2800 rating since we have nothing for that and then something for all 28s (?) completed.
Adding rewards like this is very very good for participation. If we look at bfa, Keystone master had 5-6% of accounts completing the achievement but when they added the mount to KSM at the end of bfa it shot up to 20%+. It gives people even more incentive to push past doing 18s/20s like myself, plus getting cosmetic rewards is just fun.
