OK so I just tried to run my key twice without looking at raider io to see what the anti Rio crowd are advocating for and here is what happened.
I took the first people with appropriate ilvl (turned down someone under 400 for an 11) that signed up except for a second warlock because i needed to make sure i had interrupts. I was the healer so puged tank and 3 dps. After inviting I looked at the Rio of the group so I could be accurate when writing this. My Io is just over 1000 on my monk which was the character I was on
11 motherlode,
6 people were declined because I was full on dps and 1 was declined because i couldn’t take all ranged dps and still call this a fair test. meaning that regardless of Rio each applicant had less than a 50% chance of being accepted.
The io of the group members were
745 - (2100 main in S2)
587 - (1050 S2)
957 - no s2 score
517 - no S2 score
we killed 26% of the trash count and didn’t get to the first boss by the time the group fell apart. one of the dps was under 20k average for the dungen up till that point.
10 motherlode,
I relisted as a 10 and turned down the person who applied that was in the group previously,
I then added people off appropriate ilvl (420+ for a 10)
18 people were declined because we were on full on dps and just waiting for a tank meaning that each dps that applied has less that a 30% chance of being accepted.
there were the IOs of the group
249 - (790 s2)
No io that my addon could show
769 - (no S2)
384 - (630 s2)
we got to 20% trash with 20 deaths and then the group fell apart.
im not totally sold on this no raider io nirvana that people keep talking about. perhaps i need to do further testing…

I do look at IO as a fellow healer but instead of just looking at their collective IO, I check to make sure they’ve at least 1 chested the 10 I’m doing. They could have a 100 IO for all I care, as long as they’ve proved to be competent in that particular dungeon.

There is actually no way to tell if a player is good or bad with addon. The only way is to actually run something. Then you can judge them. Some say it gives a better chance. I say at what. This game you can buy carries all the time. So it pretty much nullifies anything as far achievements or some score.
It the reason why i keep saying go back to old ways. Run with them for a dungeon or a few quest. You can get a general feeling. Then add to friends. It only way. Communication is key to success.

You can’t replace people in M+, which is why IO was invented to screen people.
Anyone who takes a video game seriously enough to need a rating system to pick to invite to a group. The same applies to Guilds the require an application.
So anyone who wants to succeed at hard content?

Honestly, it is hard to define a players skill just based on raider io, you also have to make sure how many keys they have done. This week I kept on running into feral druids doing really bad dps, even with decent raider iOS probably got carried.
Just like Gear Score or anything in the past used turn people down with giving them a fair shot.
