I recall Blizzard canning its QA department, which speaks volumes about the current game.
Didn’t they also gut at least half of their CM’s and in game GM’s that handle tickets?

Well, I hope they paid you enough. If past behavior is any indication, they aren’t good about keeping employees or contractors.
In all seriousness though, they should have clarified it quickly. But nope, no clarification in blue text or official pr sources. At least that we know of.
Again, Blizzard has no real world PR skills.
And, at times like this, it shows.
I mean, Amazon did it. I wouldn’t put much past Blizzard at this point.
You make a lot of good points but the only thing I will point out is that if they had reply for every time somebody in the community misinterpreted what they said that be a full-time job of just doing that.
If they had any awareness at all, they’ve known for months that the perception was “no player power tied to BS world content”. Raiders, PvPers, and m+ players don’t want to log on and do 30 minutes of boring chores every play session before they can get to what they want to do, and blizzard was supposedly listening. It was, and this is not is an understatement, the greatest feature of 9.2 because it represented a shift in design philosophy towards respecting players time.
Instead of a wannabe mobile game, here are 3 slam dunk alternatives.
Better yet, why not all of the above? The worst thing they could have done (and their worst game design sin in this era) is trying to force players into content they don’t want to do instead of enticing players into content they haven’t tried yet.
There’s no way that anyone at The company was unaware of the public perception. There’s also no points earned by all the white knights popping every thread with “akshuwaly…” and “technically…”. This isn’t a contract for an agreement. Perception matters MORE than fact in this industry, which any CM will agree with. Ghostcrawler found that out the hard way.
TL;DR: this is , and they need to fix it.
Okay, let’s try this analogy on for size.
The players speak.
IF, and with Blizzard, that’s a big IF, Blizzard CHOOSES to listen, they corrupt a wish at best.
By all means, how is that players’ fault?
Players hearing what they want and not what is said isn’t bad communication. It’s bad comprehension.
A lot of players didnt hear about that interview until now, so it’s both.
Yeah, but you would have to agree that this is one of those “not so little” things.
And yep, they should have quite a few full time people communicating with the community as a full-time job.
That’s part of the problem. Blizz/ATVI have not devoted much in the way of resources to communication, because they don’t value it enough.
Then why didn’t Blizzard mention when they had the chance that the 2nd Leg would require at least Revered from the new zone at a time when it would have been relevant to do so?
No blue text, not explanations or clarification.
That’s a blizz problem.
Why the desire to defend them on this? It’s not that big of a deal to admit they made a boo boo.
Unless their ego is too big.
Hi, what year did you start?
Blizzard ego has only gotten bigger since 2004.
Sigh.
Yeah, I know. Hence the poor behavior by some, and the current lawsuits.
I just wish it didn’t extend to the game. Their ego is killing the game. PVP gearing, ridiculous time gating and grinds, boosting, etc.
No desire to listen to the players during testing, or anyone else.
Just nuts.
You forgot the removal of pictures of females that were turned into bowls of fruit.
Talk about meta.
This situation is why they need to have a more active voice on the forums. If they had, maybe they could have corrected the misunderstanding before it turned into this mess. What they said was correct but like most things, information tends to get twisted up the more it is passed down the line.
At the very least, an official reference would make the histrionics harder…
For this particular issue? no, I don’t feel like blizzard is in the wrong. I really feel like what was said and what was inferred were very different.
So why then didn’t they mention that the 2nd Leg would require Revered rep with the new zone when clearly it would have been a good idea to do so?

Oh, and for the record. Blizzard regularly claims, “We listen to all feedback.” Players still seem to think that Blizzard is going to DO what players request without first at least corrupting it somehow, and then perverting it further.
