Why we are looking forward to Classic and why some are not

Hello Everyone,
If you post something here of why you do not want to play Classic I will try and reply how I view that particular topic. Example…" I don’t think I will like Classic because there are not enough races to choose from." I would then reply my quick thoughts on the races.

You can also post about a certain feature of why you are looking forward to playing classic. Just stick to the quick points, features etc… No hypothetical situations that may or may not occur.

The agenda of this post is to see both sides of the blade.

Looking forward to playing with friends, and making new friends.

I think for me, I’ll have to see it to believe it. There are things I am looking forward to, and things I am not.

For example, I don’t expect to absolutely love doing very little dmg to mobs, having to sit and eat/drink after pulls, and grind rep.

I’m not sure exactly what features will be the same, and what will be different. Sure, we know that Vanilla will support wide-screen monitors, and I don’t think many people are complaining about this (perhaps there are some people who are going to fire up their old CRT, and 700MhZ PIII, with their Voodoo 5 graphics card who are disappointed that Classic won’t run on 32 bit, but they have a 64 bit Win XP disc kicking around.)

What about other things like sharding? I absolutely hate sharding. I was going to transfer to an RP server, because I was under the impression they aren’t sharded, and with current War Mode, Sharding, and cross-realm play, there doesn’t seem to be much reason to prefer one realm over another (except for Mythic raiding maybe).

What about then public chat? Will it be how it was in Vanilla, or will there be a limit on the number of messages you can send over a period of time? Is this the same as Vanilla? Does it make it _better or worse?

What else might be different? This is my biggest concern tbh, that there will be just enough about it to make it almost feel like Vanilla, but those anti-community features that have crept into retail may bleed enough into Classic to make it not really “classic”.

I’ve never played Classic. For me this is going to be like a new expansion to discover, set in the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor. I’ve never seen Azeroth pre-Cataclysm. I’m sure I’ll like some of the old features and hate others, just like in any expansion.

Yes, the fights take a bit more time and we have to manage resources and cds on spells. I embrace this challenge. Today’s WoW, I can fight one handed while eating a slice of pizza with the other without worry of dying. (normal pulls of 2-3 mobs)

I agree, this would destroy the social aspect. I look forward to BGs and seeing that one player in the match everyone knows by reputation of being awesome. If said player is on your faction it builds confidence,(spelling fix here) if said player is on the opposing faction it will be an added ego bonus if you get a kill on him/her.

I honestly don’t know of any restriction but if there is one it just promotes less of a “troll” environment so I would be okay with that.

Hopefully there are no anti-community features. That is what I and others I’ve seen on the forums and in game conversations are looking forward to is the “neighborhood” community feel.

Classic has nothing to offer me that live doesn’t do better.

Classic will not be for everyone, but do you have one feature that you prefer in live over Classic?

There are a great many things I am looking forward to when classic comes out.

The old talent trees for example. Not all of the choices were good ones. There was a lot of filler and fluff. But at the same time there were some abilities that that did make you feel more powerful. Gaining a level and getting another talent point was a rewarding experience to me. As it did make me feel like I was slowly becoming more powerful.

Another thing I am looking forward to is the time commitment. I enjoyed the longer dungeons. Where you actually had to use your various cc abilities and you had to be careful about pulling too much or getting wandering adds. Maybe it’s just me, but I couldn’t stand the zerging mentality. The whole rush, rush, rush, go, go, go, skipping half the dungeon. Just to do it all over again. Trying to pull as much as possible as quickly as possible. To each their own, that is just not for me.

Some other things I am looking forward to are the little things. Such as having to feed your pet again. Or having to have ammunition again. Yes it is a minor inconvenience when you run out (if you are not an engineer). But again as you gained more levels you got more powerful forms of ammunition.

Class identity is another thing I am looking forward to having again. When everyone can do everything. the sense of class identity is lost. It no longer feels like it matter what you play.

I could go on, but I just wanted to share a few of my own personal opinions.

And mounts!

One of the worst changes imho was removing the need for stuff like that and making core class mechanics change drastically. Really took away from the class fantasy/rpg aspect. Would have been better to just make them stack.

If they stacked or had their own special warlock bag or something I woulda been cool with it. I just didnt enjoy the clutter.

I just think it took away from the fantasy of the class and rpg aspect.
Yes, not having to make my poisons, feed mg pets or carry arrows is more efficient.

It also takes away from the fantasy of the class.

Agreed, but at least with arrows you had a quiver and it wasnt in your general bags. If there was a shard pouch like a quiver I would have loved it.

Removing the need to apply poisons was a mistake and feeding pets was a mistake.

There was bags for shards.
