I have to disagree, watching any game that does PvP is completely different to watching PvE… watching PvP is exactly like how someone above said, it’s like watching synchronised swimming… PvE and Mythic Raid is literally just watching people going through scripted actions from a NPC…literally it’s purely scripted… nothing ever changes, they know where to stack, where mobs spawn, what’s about to come up… failure is just because of their human error.
While PvP games against other players it’s always different it’s all about reactions, no two games, fights, arenas are the same. That’s what makes that more so entertaining…
Personally watching people go through a script, their dbm literally telling which abilities are coming up seems boring, but that’s just my thoughts…I’d rather watch a game of chess which I consider boring, then people play through scripted battles.
Same reason people buy lotto tickets. To fulfill a sad little fantasy that they could go pro one day, that could be them.
Everyone would love to get paid to engage in their hobby, it’s why video game streaming is so popular.
I don’t get anything from watching others play, but to each their own. Definitely tired of seeing different rules for different types of players though.
Echo admitted to past RMT within a month of forming. Us plebs would have ate a ban for that, but our golden streamer/professional overlords don’t even have to be bothered with that.
Or my favorite of 2020, a popular streamer bribes a GM to ban some peasant that had the audacity to dispel his raid buffs on a pvp server. Far as I’m aware, the streamer was never banned for that, no action at all taken against them.
Implying most people in pvp are not operating at bot levels of functionality.

Nonsense, it’s total skill when their weak aura makes a giant box which theyve learned by rote to immediately press hotkey X in response to.
And gladiatorlosa, sArena, gladius, omnibar and weakauras for tracking CD on trinkets is somehow a badge of pride?
Billions of people watch other people play competitive sports. Do you find that shocking as well? It’s the exact same thing.

World first doesn’t really mean much as it used to in older xpacs but it’s about the prestige. You cleared it first so at the time Nathria 1st came out, your guild was the most efficient and best at clearing it. Then it becomes about speed clears after. Previously, games had thinsg like attunement which slowed down your progress and potentially your guild but as the patch/expansion settles in more the speed picks back up. There’s a reason why people are grinding renown, stygia, and the Maw as early as possible too. Why people hate being gated from progressing past others; why Blizz felt the need to gate others so others can play catch up.
People watch because they find it entertaining?
Why do people watch virtually anything else?
