We know various regions in WoW have undergone name changes (Talador becoming Terokkar Forest for example), so does it strike anyone as odd that an entire zone named after a deposed queen, and old god lackey, kept it’s name long after War of the Ancients?
Follow up Question: In the interest of generating discussion, and a break from the usual topics, if Blizzard came to you (yes, you) and asked you to rename the zone, what would you call it?
(Joke answers are permitted provided you at least give a semi-serious one as well.)
As a side note. It was horrible what they did to that zone during cata. People cried because it didn’t have a bunch of annoying quests and tons of trash mobs. So blizz set to “improve” it. sad.
iirc, the reason for the transformation was because Blizzard didn’t want to funnel so many players through Barrens and instead wanted to give them an alternate route for leveling in Kalimdor.
Reminds me Blackrock Mountain. A place named after of the occupants inside it, which ended up sticking to being the name all along and just so happened the Blackrock Orcs moved in.
They devs probably didn’t know exactly what they were doing with Azshara(the character) back in the early 2000s, so they just labelled a mostly unoccupied zone after a famous Night Elf.
Because I’m just trying to generate a harmless discussion and see if people can come up with some creative ideas for a new name. If you don’t want the zone to be renamed then just say so and move on. Nothing in this thread will actually become canon (probably).
Could just be as simple as people got used to the name. I mean, for a recent example, Mechagon is still called that despite their king losing his mind and trying to mechanize everyone whether they want it or not.
