Why was Thrall in Nagrand?

One of the things that bothers me about Thrall’s return is that he’s way out in Nagrand instead of on Azeroth. Is there an actual stated reason for this? Just seems a bit odd to celebrate his return to the Horde when he keeps leaving it of his own volition. Why didn’t he stick around in Durotar or something? Even if he’s not a shaman, couldn’t he have stuck around as an adviser or something?

Just feels odd to celebrate someone’s return when they never really gave an explanation for just suddenly packing up and leaving.

Its the most peaceful zone in all of WoW universe… also he gets to hang with the Mag’Har who love him. Also his wife is Maghar from that universe Nagrand

maybe she convinced him to raise the family near her hometown around other brown skin Orcs and not have to deal with Azeroth mess?

Well considering what happened with Garrosh and then with Doomhammer, he probably felt personally responsible for making the Horde go through a rebellion which ended up taking a lot of lives.

And then him losing his connection to the elements probably also had some hand in convincing him that his time of being relevant was at an end.

As long as he stayed in the Horde, he’d have a target on his back (It happened before, and he wasn’t even Warchief then.) So he did what was best for his family and decided to move them far, far away from Azeroth.

Part of it I feel is penance… and at the same time, perhaps it’s also him trying to reconnect with his ancestors to figure out what all went wrong. I have a feeling that if Thrall does get his powers back, Nagrand and the Outland elements/spirits will have something to do with it.

I don’t get it either. I mean, the place is falling apart. It’d be like moving into an asbestos filled decrepit wreck about to be demolished.

but its beautiful. “looks nice”. i;ma have saurfangs voice in my head now al the time.

Don’t take Saurfang’s assessemt that literally, one thing he’s no expert on how worlds live and die… he may simply be someone who has a hate on for Frazetta landscapes.

And even if Outland is dying that could well be the process of millennia. Nagrand looks practically like Kansas.

He moved there because he realised that the barrens were a crappy place to raise a family.

Aggra was a Nagrand native, his grandmother(if she is still alive) would be in Nagrand. Lastly even if he lost his elemental connection, Nagrand would be the perfect place to either try and get it back or just try and maintain whatever connection he did have.

.

Id also point out Azeroth is dying and at this rate might die sooner than Nagrand!

Or just grow wheat, raise a fricking family and leave the hero job to others. By his own lights, he’s done his time.

And also a character.

He moved there because the last time his incompetence caught up to him they found him in the Den too easily.

If you haven’t gotten it when things go wrong with his shamanism Thrall enters a “Back to Africa” phase of his life, chasing after the Draenor Orc life and culture he never had. Its exactly what he did last time he couldn’t shaman right.

Also like Suarfang said, he’s as much hiding, the reason for this is he likely can’t cope with the issue of he’s not the savior the world made him out to be. He went form the chosen one World Shaman, who only he could stop Deathwing, to witnessing the failure of his choice in successor, while being unwilling to act until Garrosh was tearing the Horde apart and beyond saving, to being unable to save Voljin at the Broken Shore.

His family is there, assuming Geyah is still alive.

Nagrand seemed like a good place to hide its one of the few completely uncorrupted parts of out land, and a place that’s unimportant to both factions. Who would bother him there? He could fade into history raise his family and live in peace there

Its peaceful and his wife if from Nagrand.

Of all the places you can peacefully live and farm without worry Its either Nagrand or Pandaria.

It was Aggra’s home, and likely it seemed like a safer place to raise his children than on Azeroth, which seems to erupt into a new war every year or two. Even Pandaria wasn’t spared when the Legion invaded, so honestly his logic is pretty easy to follow.

Or he was tired of all the noob adventurers asking about Mankrik’s wife.

sing I miss Nagrand, so much, I miss my wife.
It’s lonely in the Horde.
Oh no, no, no, I"m a Horde orc…
