Why Was /Spit removed?

I’m still confused about this. I can’t target people with /spit but I can still slap them in the face, call them sexy devils, call them the sons of motherless ogres, drop my trousers and moon them, smack them upside the head, punch them, sniff them, fart on them, and laugh at their misfortunes?

I know this pertains to last year’s events but I think I quit around the time that this happened, so I don’t actually understand what the devs were trying to achieve with these changes to the game. All I saw was negative feedback on it on YouTube.

It was removed because of a mount sold by Blizzard as an incentive for purchasing a product of theirs which riled up a bunch of customers. It was also because of the culture battles in our society and the Authoritarian folks who want to control what you say and do which gave them the reason to remove it and they used it to their advantage for sales.

They tried to implement a mask in the game that would meet CDC guidelines but couldn’t. Removing the /spit emote was the only way to control Covid-19 in-game.

Becareful the Governments Ministry of Truth will get you and label you a terrorist for your free speech and you wouldn’t want to upset the Supreme Leader and his party.

It’s actually crazy and hilarious how much people rage over and hate Asmon for pretty much made up reasons lmao. And really, /spit is the only example people have of him being “toxic”. “Yeah cuz he did this one thing in game over a mount a couple years ago. Yeah, that’s why he’s bad” lmao
