Why was resilience removed. I get that a resilience player would melt a raider, but raiders dont even care about, or do pvp.
And most people (except people who like pvp) even play with war mode on.
So what is the reason for the removal of resilience?
Doubt a blue would tell you. Since it’s only them that have the answer or can get it. Everything else is just assumptions.
Yea, this will probably go under the radar, or be ignored
I would just really like a clear answer, because the removal makes no sense to me
Saying that “x type of player doesn’t care about y content” is pretty stupid. Most players partake in all types of content to some degree.
Resilience was nice for slowing down pvp a bit as a counter to over tuned damage, but it made pvp a full time job and unenjoyable for anyone without the time to devote to getting pvp only gear.
As a pvper, this is why I dont like the idea of pvp stats. I’d rather just have gear, and be able to use that gear anywhere. But you also need to be able to GET gear anywhere to make it even.
If this were the case all the threads of PvPers complaining about getting owned by PvE players in PvE gear would have never been a thing.
They have certainly been a thing.
That’s also why PvPers largely want specific PvP gear stats back - so they always have the gear advantage with the least amount of time investment involved.
Exactly. I mostly do pve but on occasion will do battlegrounds or things like korraks revenge. With resilience, players like myself would not be able to enjoy pvp at all because we’re instantly outmatched by anyone with a pvp gear set.
Yeah. I’d like to pvp all week and then be able to use that time invested to perform on raid nights since I can only raid once per week. Just let us play the game.
It was an extra bar for people to even get into PvP. Where PvE has a clear gear progression, and difficulty curve, PvP lacks that structure.
You could face an equally geared opponet, or several 2500 rated players in a random bg. I’d assume it turned people away from that side of the game enough Blizzard felt they had to act.
Grinding resilience was more like submitting to a hazing each and every random you did.
And being able to go out and do random world pvp with some guildies for lols is quite entertaining, and accessible because you don’t need the specialized gear.
Not having to carry around an entire second set of PvP specific gear was one of the best things to ever happen to PvP.
Because Blizzard is a poor developer that makes changes simply for changes sake. They fear things being stale more than they fear things being terrible and broken.
Why do people that don’t PvP feel their feedback regarding PvP is relevant?
I agree with this. And the opposite is true as well. People with PVP gear would get into a raid, and then get dropped when someone noticed all the resilience.
I honestly wonder the same thing. Failing upwards into resil gear never felt good to me, so I never did pvp much at cap where that mattered. I was bging earlier for this mog set (got my 12 marks exactly, score) and it was nice that I didn’t feel totally useless like a pve character did under resilience, but it’s not like I was getting tons of kbs or in any way rocking the house.
Imo, for whatever issues there were with resilience, setting up mythic PVE as the path to ultimate PVP gear is straight up worse in every way. Maybe there’s a third way, I thought it was fine in Legion when they tried to scale the gear, what happened to that I guess it didn’t work so well?
it will go under the radar because it’s a pretty ignorant post. Most raiders do arena, and especially the players that spend a lot of time pushing either in most cases do both.
The change made it so that it was easier to participate in both, it’s been mostly beneficial to players that don’t have that much time and would like to participate in the other content (i.e. people that prefer pvp but would like to raid occasionally and vice-versa) … which is a lot of people.
There’s an old blog talking about it
Fact:
Resilience was removed because even though Blizzard has a problem with PvPers getting gear that allows them to compete in raids, they have ZERO issue with raiders getting gear that allows them to dominate the PvP scene. Period. End of story. Put it in the bank.
As soon as raiders weren’t able to compete in PvP in their RAID gear, Blizzard removed resilience and then lowered the ilvl of regular PvP gear, making it harder for PvPers to compete in PvE, while insuring Raiders continue to dominate in PvP.
It’s a giant pile of hypocritical BS and one thing I hate about this game.
They could try going the FFXIV route, where PvP stats are completely normalized. You go into a BG and gear doesn’t matter at all. Every warrior is the same, every black mage is the same, etc not matter what you’re wearing. It’s a little boring but MUCH more fair and avoids the gear issue entirely.
Ok to address some of you
The issue with current pvp, in my opinion, is the requirement to grind through mythics for BIS gear. So to be a competitive PVPer one needs to be good (and do) at both PVP and Mythics. This isnt a requirement for raiders or for people who want to do Mythics, they can get away with just doing their preferred content.
Resilience keeps PVPers doing what they enjoy doing
and most prefer one type of content, either pvp or pve, and they spend most of their time doing that specific kind of content
did it not just evolve into Versatility?
Why do people feel that casuals -you know, 99% of the player base- aren’t allowed to have opinions?
