Why was it never denied?

When the 1.7 million sub was published the addon author was bullied into changing his post and the original post was deleted but more telling was that blizz never explicitly denied the allegation.

Also the method that was used to determine this number was removed. Now that is more telling than the fact that lots of folks are saying their guilds are shrinking and friend's lists are non-existent.

Incorrect they would be breaking the law if they denied something that affects stockholders.

You mean the post where the person posting it said it was not conclusive info and that 50% of WoW players used weakauras addon?
Also the same post where the "source" quickly disappeared and nobody was able to replicate the results?
And was it the same post that even stated it did not include all regions?

I'm sorry what was the point of your post again?

Yes they did. Blizzard flat out went and said the numbers were false, IE denied it.

Incorrect. They would be breaking the law if the denial was untrue.

Why do you care though OP? Let's say it's true. How does that information affect you? Would WoW being down to 1.7m be the final straw for you to quit? Do people you don't even know have sway over your personal experience?

How fast blizzard jumped to stomp it out makes me think while maybe it was'nt 100% accurate...it was close enough to make them panic.

Realm pop shows similar information.

I just wanted to point out to you that you have no evidence that Blizzard "bullied" anyone. If the WA developer felt bullied he would certainly have indicated that imo.

In addition to that, there was nothing nefarious about removing the api. It was a security issue. No one should be able to get detailed sub information from an api. They would have removed it even if there were 20 million people subbed.

Not remotely accurate either. People really need to let this whole sub numbers obsession go.

Based on the realm pop. There is around 1.9mil toons that have reached max level on USA realms. Meanwhile only 2.2mil toons reached max level on EU realms.

Usa is the 2nd biggest gaming demographic, only under China. The fact that the EU populous is beating the us populous is truly telling.

Now if we cut these numbers down by 30% and achievements (cause of alts) then we can easily find the actual number of active players.

But right now? It's very low when looking at WoW's history of numbers.

Incorrect. The api was removed because they didn't want the results replicated. Why would you be afraid of discussing this? Why would you falsely report it a defamatory? I only suggested the issue needs discussing I didn't claim anything.

Nothing I said was either a violation of the ToS or the CoC. Now you are trying to bully me.

Boom, bye! Blizzard themselves reached out to Weakauras and the Reddit mods about the numbers being false, IE denying the numbers to being true.

People really need to let this whole sub numbers obsession go.
Actually, it's kinda important to know how many are playing the game you are playing as it'll show you how long the game has and why your que's might be taking awhile.

For instance in a previous thread I made (https://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/20769667723) I kinda did abit of math and stuff and found out that there is only a total of 2,678,365.3 (aka 2.6 million) toons that have finished bfa's war campaign at that time of posting. Which would mean that there is less than 3 million toons that are ready for 8.1's story.

Which is like, low. Really low. And that number can effect other areas of the game.

Other region's populations have no effect on the North American servers. All I'm interested in is the region whose subscriptions built this game and the squandering of that money to the point that we have BFA.

Also there is a point where it ceases to be more like a solo game rather than an MMO when population dwindles.
