Why Was Dastardly Duo's So Short?

With work and all of the other content currently going on, I wasn’t able to get to the Duo stuff beyond two fights. Why was the content available for such a short time frame? Is it coming back? It makes sense to me to have made it available until the next expansion.

Better question: Why did it exist? it was a whole lot of nothing

Think it was supposed to be a seasonal event but was absurdly unpopular.

It feels like some sort of test bed for something. For what, not sure, but yeah, it came and went real quick.

It seems like it’ll return, but it’ll likely be a minor content patch thing again. Hard telling if it’ll be different.

Honestly the duos felt cobbled together. I was hoping it would be reminiscent of the brawlers guild, but it missed the mark for me. I helped a friend get their 1 million point achievement in the last week of it, but I only stepped in there twice.

It’s just a new holiday event. I expect it to be back every summer.

Hopefully next time they’ll fix up the pacing issues that limited the fun.

Good question. I played it a lot, it was fun and funny.

Best guess? I think that we’ll see a lot more places where if you want to solo then you can have tank, healing, supporting roles and if you want two friends to go with you that can happen too, or you make your own traditional gang of five. Once we get used to this (they are the same group that helped in dungeons), it might show up as a solution for many things. For some, the solution is to wait an expansion and then go back OP, what if it were different.

Sounds like you didn’t care for the event honestly. You had 6-7 weeks to do 4, 5-minute fights.

6 weeks was plenty of time for how much of a nothingburger it was.

All the achievements are listed under World Events s I imagine it will return eventually.

First the complaints of timegating this event, now complaining it ended too soon.

Yes. It’s a calendar event. It’ll be back.

But honestly, you didn’t miss much.

The way it’s set up, makes me think it will be an annual thing.

Why did they stuff a years worth of events into a summer month where WoW typically isn’t a priority

Hopefully it was just the testing of a much better and fleshed out thing they’ll do in the future

Cuz conceptually it was pretty cool

Concept maybe, the execution was terrible.

Scaling players down, dumb as rocks AI, opaque scoring system, and not balanced for solo / solo with AI / group variants were just a few of the things I noticed that need work.

It was okay after getting past the “If you wear a shirt you’re naked and can’t do it” bug.

But it was mostly a matter of seeing how much the tank NPC could handle when it came to spawning extra mobs and I don’t know how anyone could get a solo high score without being an evoker, priest, or tank because the NPC tank refused to stand in the triple-overlapped bonus zones and had to be rescued on cooldown to get there and at that point it just resulted in standing around spamming DPS buttons and hoping the tank didn’t instantly fall over.

Probably better for a party of players, but for solo it was kind of mediocre.

It was terrible. It could have been awesome, but it felt half baked.

Oh yea, the event itself was so weirdly designed, like it was almost made to annoy people

But boss rush concept is still something I always enjoyed

Unfortunately I expect we’ll see a lot of these poorly designed mini-games just being shuffled in and out of the game as a way of “proving” they actually kept their word on releasing content more quickly.

I did it once or twice and it might be the lamest thing I’ve ever done in wow lol.

Good riddance Dastardly Duos. :stuck_out_tongue:
