Why are Warlocks playable? Especially on Alliance? These guys are the epitome of evil whose sole goal is the acquisition of power by sacrificing everything to the Burning Legion. Also the Horde shouldn’t have them either as Thrall specifically banned all Warlocks from the Horde.
I mean… are Warriors or Rogues really all that much better? Warriors just want to smash everything and Rogues only care about money. Also in Classic at least Warlocks were always shunned lore wise. Which is why their trainer is in a basement of an Inn. There’s even a quest to kill a Noble who has discovered them. When you ask a Guard for a Warlock trainer in Stormwind they’ll reply with something like “Warlocks? In Stormwind? We don’t have those kinds here”
Wrong. That’s demon hunters.
Warlocks just want to summon a bunch of spirit friends.
Warriors and Rogues don’t go sacrificing whole worlds to demons.
Except he didn’t.
Thrall allows our kind into Orgrimmar because we are still his fellow kin–he cannot turn his back on us, or we would become as pathetic as the humans who enslaved him.
Playable warlocks are more anti heroes willing to learn and dabble in dark magic to gain power. That doesn’t mean they are the same as the legion same as how shadow priest arnt the same as the old gods
I think you’re thinking of Garrosh btw.
Ya know the old sayin’ - “Fight fire with fire.” In this case… green fire.
I am an explorer in forbidden lore. Just as I was willing to sacrifice part of my body for the superiority of mechanization I am willing to make sacrifices for Fel power and control over infernal servants. I take precautions against Fel corruption in the form of 4 willpower enhancement modules. Learning from a for can give insights into how to defeat them. Once the war begins the Alliance will be happy to have my power at their side in battle.
Yes nerf rouges I fully agree…
“ Though they often pledge themselves to the service of noble causes and are not innately evil” - Lore
Just like all classes, the class itself is good and bad depending on who is the Warlock… I’ll be honest I think we have gone through more “Evil” Mages and Shamans through all the expansions then Warlocks.
We’re all just different flavors of murderhobo.
I think you can point to many of the worst events in recent in-game history as happening because warlocks flew too close to the sun. Warriors and rogues are just doing regular stuff by comparison.
Given the “cosmology” and stuff, you’d think that both demonology and shadow magic would be banned in most civilized cultures, but they aren’t.
In Everquest (something WoW owes a lot to, still), entering a human city as a necromancer or shadowknight would get you killed by the guards, on sight. Here they see you with an imp or succubus following you around and just shrug their shoulders.
especially on alliance? especially on the horde, warlocks enslaved your entire race!
Thrall allowed it. Garrosh however had pretty much all the warlocks executed in Siege of Orgrimmar
Because the creators of the game allow it?
Warlocks aren’t inherently evil and they don’t serve the Legion. Even a lot of demons out there don’t serve the Legion. Warlocks are people who are usually very self-serving and into dark shady magic, but the factions can overlook it if they channel that power for their benefit. Or at least aren’t out causing trouble. Their unique expertise is very useful.
Plus they aren’t parading around the streets, you’ll find them in the shadows and in secret hideouts out of the way. Death knights and shadow priests roam the factions just as warlocks do.
Also because why use soldiers as fodder when sometimes you can just throw a big freaking demon at a problem?
Worked out ok for Gul’dan, until it didn’t.
The power of fel, and void isn’t evil on outset.
It’s how you use these powers that’s determines it. See: Incoming army of Light wielding super Na.zisin an expansion or two.
