Why versatility over other stats?

9 Pieces of gear on with versatility. 182 IL and 486 versatility, this gives me a 6% damage reduction. Does this really beat out the possible damage mitigation of increased parry from crit or the shield granted by mastery? Also at 132 crit, 533 haste, & 166 mastery.

Avoidance is unpredictable and can result in huge damage spikes when nothing goes your way. Flat DR always works. A tank is generally best served in his role by flattening the curve as much as possible. This has been true since vanilla. Steady damage is easier on healers. One of the big reasons brewmaster has been consistently so outstanding.

It seems like in small amounts haste isn’t very useful. You have to hit a certain amount or rp/s or Vers is the go to it’s still a good stat regardless

Keep in mind, Vers is actually… Versatile in terms of stats. I know… It literally just says that.

You do more damage and healing in PvP and take less damage in PvP. While the former is more effective in PvE, the latter is quite niche but can save you from life-threatening situations.

Plus it’s a decent stat for tanking too.

EDIT: Point is, Vers can make you more effective in other contents that’s different from DPSing in a PvE content.

I feel like I got plenty of haste, i believe I am a little over 16%.

It will also give more healing, so you are getting 12% more heals from deathstrikes/other sources. And yes, the damage reduction helps stabilize your hp bar.

I’m talking like 30%. You have to just have an overwhelming amount of rp/s to beat out stacking all vers and haste where you can. I try to balance the two. It doesn’t seem to make a big difference atm though.

Trying to utilize the new stuff in our toolkit is probably more important than worrying about stats right now vs going max ilvl.
