Why Trolls slouch

Hey, I’ve been looking for reasons that most trolls slouch and I think I finally have some answers. I don’t remember when or where, but I read that the reason that darkspear and other jungle/forest trolls slouch is because their tusks get too heavy. We actually have no Idea how much these weigh and I think this is why we see the male trolls do a little bend. Of course, this does not apply to all customizations as there are some really small tusks for darkspear trolls, but like I said we have no idea how much these weigh. Imagine if even the small tusks weigh like 5 to 10 pounds each and they are carrying them around all day. I would definitely be slouching if someone attached 2 10 pound weights to the bottom of my chin. The zandalari, on the other hand, stand up straight, but you may notice that all their tusks in customization are smaller/thinner than the other trolls. Also when you pickpocket a Zandalari sometimes they will have something called a tusk file, which brings me to believe that the Zandalari file down their tusks or even make them hollow maybe to not deal with the burden of slouching and also showing how much superior they are than the other races. Does anyone agree?

This interesting and I never really thought about just why it is we slouch. I always liked it though being part of the troll aesthetic and one of the reasons I ain’t a fan of the Zandalari and their plastic surgery looking models.

I agree, and now with all the untrue troll fans switching to zandalari for their mains, I think it makes us even more unique.

I think that’s pretty ridiculous logic. The Zandalari tusks aren’t much smaller than other Trolls’ at all, let alone some of their options, and them hollowing them out is insane not only because it makes no practical sense for how it would be done, but also because tusks are teeth and turning them hollow would be an absurdly painful process.

Also Orcs were similarly hunched and it had no lore reason, it was just an aesthetic.

my head canon for the orcs was always that it was a condition developed from the time in the internment camps

Its all that burden of losing troll lands.

Look at Zandalari. They still have some lands and they stand up straight.

Trolls slouch from the burden of being Warcraft’s most interesting race.

I agree to that, the hollowing part was just a very broad speculation, but I believe that the slouching isn’t just asthetic, Just the fact that the zandalari have tusk files does mean that they grind their own teeth down, however their tusks don’t seem to be much lighter as for the girth of tusks they may lack to have they make up with gold platings and such, overall the fact that zandalari trolls are upright is probably more for aesthetic, as in previous expansions they were shown slouched just like all the other tribes, such as this cutscene https://youtu.be/AfoCq-RssLk?t=22. Overall I feel as though they are only created upright to attract those who couldn’t stand the fact that trolls slouched so much. Other than that, It could also be as the other trolls, living more primitively had more use for these tusks for impaling (as a boar would) and evolved bigger and heavier tusks while the zandalari lost their tusks uses and they started to become lighter, or stayed the same. After all, trolls all evolved from the zandalari tribe and they already have all different features and look much different.

Well that is debatable.

I’d imagine that, if troll tusks were too heavy to properly support, it’d cause a lot of neck damage and cause their heads to tilt downward, instead of it affecting their back and knees.

To be clear, I don’t think I support the theory either about tusks being the reason but I like the troll slouch being discussed and we need more troll lore threads.

Maybe Trolls are supposed to slooch? Kind of like Gorrilas.

Well, lots of people do say that trolls evolved from dinosaurs so “Same habitat” i guess.

they kept one region but lost everything else

They’ve said that those models aren’t indicative of what they imagined the Zandalari to look like. And it wasn’t until MoP that they had the time and impetus to create new models to match how they were supposed to look.

It is! Let’s debate it.

Trolls being large-tusked, quasi-Aztec imperials who follow a pantheon of living gods is pretty unique to World of Warcraft, and they saturate the setting.
