Recently I started doing Balance of power on some of my alts. Why Time gate old content? This questline is really long I have done it a few times. Part of the quest line you have to do some different raids and loot items. Why time gate this? Why can’t I do the raid on different difficulties and get all of the items I need for the quest? I understand the time gate when it was current content. But to have it still Time gated is kind of dumb. After all it is literally only a trans mog I will be getting at the end of this.
Because Blizzard has no real reason to go back and change it. Maybe one day they’ll get Steve, the intern, to do it.
Because it didn’t work that way then, so it doesn’t work that way now? I’m not sure why you even need to ask this.
you can loot nightshards on any difficulty except raid finder. you need 20. You can go in and clear every difficulty of that raid for transmog etc. All I am asking is why cant I also get the quest items I need
Because it never worked like that. Also yes, you can clear every difficulty for transmog, but it is different transmog. It isn’t as if every difficulty gives you items for the same set. So it isn’t really anything similar to that either.
Agreed. On a side note. I had an alt in M EN the other day. Don’t know why but I picked up the skip quest, Piercing the Veil. When I looted the chest after Cenarius, all 4 Essence of Clarity.
Why should it be un-timegated?
That is the way the questline is set up. Why should players get a less authentic experience just because the content come out years ago?
I am a returning player going thru all the ‘old content’ and I want the original experience, not some water-downed version.
If you don’t want to do it the way it is set up, don’t do it. But don’t ask that it be nerfed for your own personal convenience. That is the height of arrogance.
it never worked that way when it was current content because it was a time gate. Because it was current content. Why time gate old content? they made changes so that everyone loots random things now legacy raid loot. It wasn’t set up that way before. They changed it. You are right it was never set up that way. I am asking why does it still have to be set up that way? Its old content. The whole reason for having it be time gated to begin with was because it was current content
It works now exactly as it worked when it was current, so no idea what you’re trying to say here.
And that changes questlines and quest items how?
This logic doesn’t apply to anything in the game. For instance, old alchemy transmutes can still only be done once per day.
Edit: also to your point (though it only affects gear and not quest items), legion content won’t have legacy loot enabled until shadowlands releases in late October.
Simply because it takes man hours to change it.
As far as developers are concerned going back and making old content easier to complete isn’t really a priority issue.
I’m sure if they thought it was worth it and had the spare man hours they would do it, but it probably isn’t even something that is on their radar.
Off topic sorta. The Nighthold part bothers the heck out of me because some characters did it in one week and others took like four cause you can get like 4 curios or next to nothing and now I’m hungry and mad >:(
Reading this I can also agree here. The nostalgia nerd in me what can I say.
Oh god I have no idea why people hold on to the “well that’s the way it was”
Aside from the fact you can almost solo the damn thing which you couldn’t do before
The time gates just put a lot of players off doing it unless the reward is outrageous
I did not know asking a question would offend you so much. You really should not make assumptions about people. I never asked for a nerf. I asked why is it still this way? As far as the original experience I recommend shutting your xp off at 110. Also no Azerite armor or Heart of Azeroth. Make sure you use two legion legendaries though. Oh and do it in the next couple of weeks because the legendaries are getting nerfed. By the way its spelled through not thru good luck to you
My takeaway from the discussion is that when you walk into the HQ of the boxstacking workers union to stack some boxes.
You can unload all the containers, by hand, and walk the boxes to the other side of the site.
Cause thats how they used to do it, and you just walked in.
To be fair though, experiencing it later is already a watered down version. It’s absolutely nothing alike how it was during the time it was current, whether it’s content difficulty, gear, available talents, class mechanics, or expansion mechanics etc.
I totally get what you are talking about, but it doesn’t matter if you do MC at level 60 now for example, it’s nothing like doing it when it was current content, and that is the same for all other expansion’s content.
Old content is 100% just a time-waste from Bliz point of view (they is no player challenge when you can afk-kill everything), surprised they didn’t add to the time-gating haha.
And I’m in the same boat, I was going to get some more bear forms - but by the time I progressed this questline, they put a new engineering brez in, so I don’t need the gdruid afterall… time sink averted.
The point is Blizzard makes changes all the time to old content. When this was current content everyone was time gated every week. The logic does apply. If you do something for one specific reason, then you take away that one and only reason, then why does it still have to be that way. Blizzard changed the loot. They went back and made a change. Why cant we change how night shards work for example. With loot from a raid you can loot gear on every difficulty once a week. With the night shards you get to loot them once per week. You get locked out of looting them from ALL of the raids instead of just one. Why cant we loot them on every difficulty like gear? Just because this worked a certain way when it was current content does not mean it needs to stay this way. Blizzard agrees. They changed the loot. Actions speak louder then words
It’s irrelevant content. Who cares?
Was it really necessary to necro this?
Because they aren’t gear.
Which is exactly why blizzard isn’t going to change it. It’s a 2 expac old questline.
