Why tho? [pvp]

I haven’t played in a little while. But when I last played blizzard had come up with an amazing idea I absolutely loved. Stats in pvp ere more or less equalized. So pvp was 95% about skill rather than gear. It was a great idea. Each ilvl would give like a .1% increase to damage and health in pvp or something like that I don’t remember the exact numbers. so even someone 100 ilvl higher would only be 10% stronger. But apparently that’s now been removed. Now fresh level capped chars just can’t pvp anymore. Cuz people who have been capped versus people with raid gear who have twice the damage and health as fresh 50s…

Why would you do that? Why would you make pvp less accessible? It should be more accesible not less. Pvp should be about skill not gear. Someone shouldn’t be BiS in pvp and literally 2x stronger because they have mythic raid gear. That’s bull. It doesn’t add anything to the game what-so-ever. Why did anyone think this was a good idea to make pvp a gear check? I shouldn’t have to PVE in order to get gear good enough to PvP that’s ridiculous. Who came up with that? Can we please not do that nonsense?

PvP should be fair and 95% skillcheck. 5% variance for gear could be alloted. Because 5-10% more or less damage/hp than someone else in pvp isn’t game breaking. but 100% increased damage/hp is rediculous and should NEVER ever happen. Like should be a hardcap of 20% difference. Literally go into a bg naked and would only be 20% weaker than everyone else at most.

You removed one of your best changes to pvp for what reason? To cater to pvers who wanna dabble in pvp but lack skill? Starting out weak in pvp but getting stronger? cuz that doesn’t work cuz i shouldn’t be doing any pvp at all cuz all I do is bring my team down.

Like if gear is going to matter (which it shouldn’t) there should be brackets of gear. That’ll unfortunately make the queues longer but at level cap someone shouldn’t be twice my strength. Honestly feel like to make world pvp more interesting and less gankfest pvp should be equalized in open world too. To give lowbies an actual realistic chance against high level griefers. SKILL. FFS.

Skill? Naw fam that’s been removed. We only do gear in this house. “Mythic raid for gear or gtfo of the bg you’re just leeching at this point.” Literally someone said that in my last bg.

This reminds me of classic that’s how bad it is. The old system had flaws but why not refine it? Why would you scrap it and replace it with a boring gear check that mythic raiders win automatically? Why would you go away from balance? I don’t feel like a player should EVER be able to one shot another player. There is absolutely no skill in one shots. Zero one shots. Not a one. I don’t care if it’s a level 1 versus a level 60 in shadowlands with BiS mythic raiding gear playing the best class/spec. It’s pvp. Let pve be a stupid gear check.

Its because the raiders will QQ if they cant WTFPWN you in a GCD with their new banhammer.
They should just Make everyone even in PVP from lvl 1-60.
Why can you beat a level 1 rogue? you have more spells, but 5 lvl 1 rogues sinister striking you might get greifers to think twice before camping lowbies cus they are jerks. they can have all the excuses they want for this, derailing opposite faction, preying on the weak. currently though, lower toons arent weak, they are literally helpless. you may as well be beating up infants and anyone who gets joy out of that has issues.
you could also have city guards leveled this way so you dont run into the mechagon unbeatable overgeared I’m just gonna ignore 50 godzillian guards crap. and then you dont have to rescale the guards every expac so if you accidently wander within 5000 miles of a camp in swamp of sorrows at level you dont get 1 pumped.
PVP should be a skill based part of the game with gear as secondary.
If you cant beat someone without better gear, you arent better, you are just more geared.

A high rated arena player should not be losing to a BG gearing player for any reason, that is PVP’s gear progession and how they can status themselves at this point. Its just like a tank who is mythic geared that wants to que a normal cuz why not?

If you are getting one shot and all that, its prepatch anything and everything is broken at this point, and chaces are its gonna be that way for a while till shadowlands is closer to done.

With the changes to shadowlands PVP and buying gear with honor as a possibility i have even considered trying to PVP this time around because PVP has been busted sense Legion.

So you are saying a high rated arena player isnt good enough to beat a player with not as good of gear.
I hate arenas and rated BG’s. Love WPVP and random BGs.
You are kinda just proving my point, the high rated Arena player isnt better if he loses to the person that doesnt do arenas, hes just better geared.
Gear doesnt equal skill, it equals time in this PVP not that PVP

World PVP is not really the gear progression system in place, you are not gonna be doing the damage of someone in heroic/mythic raids just doing world quests, why would you even hold a candle to someone arena geared vs. someone that world PVP’d.

because pvp is pvp. you are fighting players wherever they are. why do you put so much stock in arenas? why is that the end all be all of skill for you? how is that more horrowing than trouncing the rogue that jumps you while fighting an elite mob and your at half health?
because blizzard put the gear advancement there. thats it. If the gear advancement was based of WPVP honorable kills, people would be toting their achievements there.

Pretty much. They’ve been molding pvp towards raiders and mythic+ players since legion.

Because pve is about gear progression. Pvp is about skill. A high rated arena player shouldn’t auto win against someone new just because they “worked for it” that’s not how the world works. You wanna keep your status you have to work for it in every single fight. Not get into a comfy position and roflstomp everything. And a mythic tank queuing for anormal benefits the group. While a mythic raider in pvp with twice hp/damage ruins the experience.

The only reason to be against equalized stats in pvp is you lack skill and just want to grind gear so you can roflstomp weaklings and feel like you’re good when in reality you’re not.

Sadly that is the truth of WoW pvp since its inception, pvp has mostly been used as a side game for people with mythic gear to one shot lowbies/lowgeared players and fell they are skilled (a delusion btw)

World PVP balanced in classic? = No
World PVP balanced in TBC = No. And we got resilience
World PVP balanced in Wrath? = No.
World PVP balanced in cata? No.
World PVP balanced in Mists? = Slightly with PVP Power/PVP Def.
World PVP balanced in WoD? = No, gear scaled to an Ilvl in pvp combat from gear vendors.
World PVP balanced in Legion = More so, but they introduced scaling and had the lowest participation of PVP we had seen in WoW.
World PVP balanced in BFA? = Maybe closer in season 1, but the corruption meta took a dump on that.

Point is, PVP participation was highest when there was a reason to PVP to gain a status over people that did it casually, As it should be.

And listing the expacs where pvp is broken isn’t reason not to fix it

Here’s a theory.

People who adhere to the gear treadmill are more likely to keep playing, as they’re constantly trying to improve their gear.

OP quit.

Maybe Blizzard wants to reward people who stay subscribed, rather than people who habitually quit.

Yeah cuz raiders stopped pvping. “lowest participation” means nothing. Context is required. Less pvers were pvping because they couldn’t rolfstomp. Pvpers who pvp’d and actually enjoyed skill based gameplay still played.

The status should be cosmetic not damage/health. If your only motivation to pvp and get gear is to unfairly beat others in pvp then I don’t think you’re interested in actual pvp.

The honor level system is a great example. Tho since they made it account wide it seems to level stupid slow.

PvP should be universally accessible. Not cater to the elite. Catering to the elite only for content is why WoD trashed. The only thing to do with raid.

No, why people stopped playing in Legion cuz if you wanted to keep gearing and getting " cool stuff " you had to prestige and LOSE ALL PVP ABBILITIES and level up honor ranks again like call of duty.

Can you explain how that is the case when losing honor talents after prestiging was removed 3 months after launch?

Legion destroyed wpvp by killing the world defense channel, and having issues with phasing. Furthermore blizzards inaction in WOD to punish cheaters led to more players leaving.

The PVP comminity left or stopped messing with it in it’s enterty. First impressions can lose people.
