Many people think that the way it ended with The Jailer was lame, but I am going to argue that the Jailer’s motivations were not entirely evil, yes he wanted to be the ruler of the cosmos, but there is something coming that’s so bad, so evil, that a world slowly being consumed by the void and the Old God’s is preferable to it, (I actually liked the Old Gods, N’zoth and his minions were good at giving spoilers for the next expansion)
So anyway, the point is in Dragonflight, I bet you at some point we are going to face Murozond again, he was the one that said he saw the true End Time, so we have to think of what could be so terrible and frightening, that the cosmos must be united not divided in order to face the biggest threat ever, and obviously it’s not Hogger,
So any ideas of what could be so terrible that we need to do something about it.
You know what I think it is?
The Light. The stinking, smelly Light and it’s ally ‘Order’. Though that’s just one possibility…there could be something much, much worse.
What do you think is the big scary thing, the ultimate bad of the WoW universe?

Brings back the burning legion as the enemy for the 6000 time
I mean honestly idk what the big bad is, as long as it’s good I don’t really care lol
Maybe Darkness. A massive dark entity slowly making its way through the universe, and wiping out civilizations. (I guess that’s basically neverending story…but hey it works)
One day it makes it to Azeroth; the world becomes, dark, with deep red and purple skies, and forever lasting clouds. Poisoness mist’s role in…I am kinda tired of the light, feels like it’s been a thing for a while, we need a switch up

I like simple stories with complex characters, and shadowlands had convoluted stories with simple characters. The end.

So what your saying is that it was so horrible that it was good?
This was the greatest disgrace wow could have ever put out. And the guy in charge is still in charge. The story was so brutal and pathetic
Expect more of the same. They killed off the beat horde character, Saurfang, had thrall sit in orbis on his butt for two seasons, while we were forced to digest an entire xpac about the world of Sylvanascraft! It was so bad dude.
It what you are saying is that it was so bad it was good? I like it

The Necrolord leader (forgot his name) being the true Jailer theory would’ve been amazing if it was implemented into the lore

i liked the storyline, tbh. don’t care what the haters say.

Shadowlands was a truck that ran over all the established lore we knew. Then backed up for good measure to make sure it was dead.

argus was the straw that broke this camel’s back.
Okay…so what you, Argus, are telling me is this.
the plan.
you die to us to offline arbiter. you were going into this fight knowing you will die. Willingly.
you were promised you will return when we get here to push balls into walls.
and we had to even bring the construct you’d be infused into. you needed the body only we could get. and when we met you in legion…we didn’t even know we were getting a body. this was all 10000% hypothetical really.
and to do this…we had to kill vast armies of supposedly superior beings to get here.
and you said hell yes to all this? no questions no doubts.
1 question…why? okay 2? why and could you pass a drug test right now?

and then shot it with a double barrel shot gun.
If you need to type out that much text and link a Bellular video to argue that it’s “not that bad”, it’s probably pretty bad.

It had to use the truck because it is so badly written it doesn’t function properly and had to use something that couldn’t miss.

nobody cares if the new character they made 2 years ago is good or evil because the story is trash.

The story was shallow and did not have a very good setup. They were trying to be too mysterious about what was going on. A lot of the story felt like they were retconning instead of filling in the blanks of past stories.
And they did a piss poor job of trying to get us to care about the Jailer. He wasn’t present enough and we only found out a bit about him and his motivation at the very end of the expansion - and that turned out to be an even bigger nameless bad.
Just get to the Void Lords already.

the story was… or could of been good. the delivery failed. too many epic characters were used. and it made them look bad which ruin what could of been a good story.
it’s not the light because light exists within the cosmic order and the jailer wanted to remake the cosmic order to protect it from another cosmic threat.
the way it ended with the jailer was lame not because he was totally evil or whatever, it’s because they need to stop this “I was really defending everyone from the REAL big bad”, it’s hackneyed because they already did this with Sargeras. The Jailer is just a worse Sargeras.

They just had to kill off Sylvanas.
If they’d done that, Shadowlands story would’ve been less crappy.
Shadowlands plot and writing was bad. WoD had a more coherent story and questing experience than SL.
The end of WoW could end on a dystopian note. Everything goes sideways and dark and most have little to no hope anymore. Even the once great heroes of Azeroth have given up. In this greatest hour of darkness and despair no one really wins. The cosmos are out of balance and the once great titans are now all dead.
