Guys lets just be real, as much most people loved the mage tower, it was the most difficult solo content ever put into the game with maybe comparisons like the hunter and priest weapon class quests in vanilla, or the warlock green fire in mop.
However you dont see the mage tower as something like “oh boy, we got a good player on our hand today guys” or “this one finshed the mage tower, and without the best gear possible, invite him, this guy is good”.
And i will be honest, this is annoying…because the same doesnt happen to players that did other difficult remarkable contents of wow history, and most of them are just really popular and actually easier than the mage tower, because the mage tower requires way more individual skill than most of the team based harder content wow mostly ever had, causing problems mostly due to mechanics or not coordination between players, in mage tower you need to do a perfect run of a boss full of mechanics and most of them just one shot you, honestly is way harder.
People may argue “But oh, you could just do mage tower with Antorus bis gear, and thats easy”, sure it is easier, but you still cant simple zerg the boss down, and also just because there is people that did mage tower with antorus best slot gear, how about the players who managed mage tower even before tomb of sargeras was released? or did it with alts with a very crap gear?
I gotta disagree with this. The Mage Tower released during Nighthold so with Tomb of Sargeras gear, it was quite doable. With Antorus gear, the Mage Tower was much easier. However with an overpowered Artifact, most became downright trivial.
Did some players still struggle? Absolutely. But I don’t think it equals a Feat of Strength. The only way I could genuinely see a Feat of Strength would be if it was tied to completing all 36 challenges(which I’m honestly surprised they didn’t add).
Outside of someone with a very high IO when does this ever happen? This isn’t Vanilla when seeing someone in T2 gear in town was a rarity.

It became quite easy. Maybe before a certain patch maybe.
Depends a lot on spec/class. Some of the mage towers were simple and easy to outgear and others much less so (like the prot warrior mage tower… never did get that one). Gear definitely helped too, and after it’d been out for a while people figured all of the tricks/buffs/etc needed to trivialize certain aspects.
Oh, pick me! Pick me! I did it in Nighthold gear when the Feral Mage Tower was considered one of the hardest in the game because of how little damage we did. I spent hours and hours ripping my hair out and doing research and optimizing and changing talents and using so much CC and mocking Agatha’s RP with hatred in my voice. Something like 100 pulls later, I got it.
I’m very proud of the date stamped on my achievement.
I’m kind of surprised about that too. I had gone after all 36 mage towers, and succeeded, and got nothing for it.
A huge amount. The UH one was far easier for me than any of the 5 I did despite the fact that the only time I’d touched it since Cata was to get the artifact.
The only ones that I tip my hat to are players with the non Disc Healer ones and the non Bear Druid Tank ones. The rest were very easy by the end with the right Leggos and Antorus gear.
wait im confused, do u mean everything else besides those two or just literally the disc and bear challenges?
I mean the all the Healer ones other than Disc and the all the Tank ones other than Bear.
Disc had it easy since they completely avoided the actual Healer challenge and got a DPS one instead. Bear with the right Leggos was brokenly easy.
Yeah, by the time I rejoined in Legion it was already pretty late, I geared up with some LFR stuff and went in and did it. I mean I think I’m decent at my class but it was in no way a challenge at that point in the expansion.

well i dont share this world, my druid was a crappy non geared alt that i just rushed doing dumb easy solo content, got 900ilv thrash random gear and i did the bear and cat challenges with only that…
and boooooy; it was a nightmare, i did completed kruul with my main dh before so i though it could not be so bad right?

I was geared up to 930 and got kicked a lot in LFR lmaoo.
LFRs are usually a curmudgeonly bunch~
I think Cat was busted easy at the end compared to early on because Blizz buffed Cat AoE which is what doing that challenge was all about.
I picked the looks I really wanted and focused on getting those toons the Leggos I needed. My friends did the same. I finished the last 6 I wanted on the Weekend before they went away.
without the leggs, bear is just terrible… with no mobility whatsoever surviving kruul fel ground mechanic which does way too much damage and you need to get out of that thing quickly, with bear dead mobility, most of the time it was an immediate wipe.
Also did not helped the fact that i didnt used weak auras or any addon that could help me predict timers for mechanics, so i had to pay attention to literally everything
More likely its a bunch of wannabes who think they’re hot stuff that are curmudgeons. Wannabes exist at every stage.
Idk about anyone else but for me and BM hunter it was not a proof of skill. I put on some special pants, stood in one spot and facerolled my keyboard until everything was dead. 
The only thing I didnt understand about the mage tower fight is why arms warrior had to do tank mechanics. I died over and over from that black goo.
