Why the lack of Customization?

Do people argue against this? The modern day Farstriders are clearly a Blood Elf institution.

yes the void corrupted elves want to cosplay nature loving farstriders. the ability to look line an easter egg isnt enough. they want to replace the void elf racial identity with normal blood elves. you havent noticed?

Unless we see one of those, nope.

It’s not “my own interpretation” dude, is basic symbol reading. Satanic cults don’t employ an inverted cross to represent their faithful devotion to Jesus Christ. Likewise, Velves employing an inverted Phoenix (the literal symbol of house Sunstrider that became their NEW symbol after the Arthas fiasco) are quite cheeky saying just that: that they reject their former Blood Elf identity and anything related to it, period.

Look dude, if you are only gonna visit the Belf thread to see which material is poachable for your Vanilla / Blueberry elves or interact with me just to annoy me for the lols, say so. I don’t have the time nor the patience to deal with trolls.

Wish granted. Don’t bother replying further.

The level of toxicity in this thread that occurred after 9.1.5’s customization options were locked in is mind boggling.

You want to know what else is mind boggling? The developer’s lack of care that went into the Nightborne. :flushed:

Read more about it here:

Sometimes I wonder if Cheddèr ever comes back into this thread just to gaze upon the monster they’ve created.

I am saved !
I can’t stand aggressive people for pixel elves… :zipper_mouth_face:

Because there’s no such thing as “Farstrider Tattoos.” None of them have them.

It’s a theme central to only Alleria, (Hence why Void Elves/High Elf fans have been asking for it since their announcement.) and no Blood Elves have them and they are not a lore thing at all and some are using it to reject Blood Elf Runic Tattoos/Scarifications like Rommath/TBC box art, even trying to push those on Void Elves.

Worse case is both Void Elves and Blood Elves get them in different colors and Blood Elves don’t get Runes because of it.

theres an example right there and it probably wont get called out by any pros

The blood elves didn’t betray them.

Personally, I think the best path forward would be to keep Alleria’s tattoos as something that is unique to her.

Tattoos or markings inspired by the phoenix or dragonhawk motif could be a nice theme to explore to flesh out the Blood Elf hunter/farstrider aesthetic.

I’m not sure I understand. Are the Farstriders not a Blood Elf institution? I’m pretty sure they still operate out of Silvermoon as members of the Horde.

Well the request is for “Alleria Inspired” concepts to show they are followers of her and show more Void Stuff. Because her Tattoos change between Void/Normal Form.

Edit; Examples

Look up The Farstrider Hanzo Skin. His tattoo is a perfect example of that exact idea.

Example https://i.imgur.com/tRT9aMO.jpg

They are, they just don’t have tattoos as part of their lore. It’s a misnomer after High Elf fans requested Alleria/WC2 inspired markings (And Void ones for Void Elves, now they are both so people are asking for Void/Non Void toggles)

Blood Elves have Runic Tattoos/Markings/Scarifications as part of their kit since TBC but it’s unavailable to players.

But curtain people hate the idea because it can be used to show edgier themes or are trying to push it on Void Elves. (Or both)

So it’s a combo of people either-

  • Thinking they should go ONLY to Blood Elves and not letting Void Elves get Alleria concepts.
  • Trying to prevent Runic Tattoos/Markings/Scarifications because they don’t like them.
  • Trying to get Runic Tattoos/Markings/Scarifications for Void Elves.
  • Trying to say both Runic Tattoos/Markings/Scarifications and Alleria’s Markings should go to both Void Elves and Blood Elves rather then them being unique features for both.

This would be the nightmare scenario. I can´t reinforce loud enough how much I do NOT want Alleria hand-me-downs, ergo ALL the work and ALL the research I´ve conducted to propose visual alternatives to those.

I don´t play Belves to pretend I´m a Helf ffs (both may be the same biological race but sure as hell NOT the same culturally wise).

Telling a misbehaving child that fire burns is akin to betrrayal nowadays, Averie.

I do not know how people can buy the victim “argument” when Umbric literally tells the player at the end of the questchain that Rommath was right ffs…

THIS. So much this.

It would be lame. And both sides would push for colors from the others after the fact anyway. Then what’s the point?

And lets not forget that Runes are already an established thing for Blood Elves.

You’ve done a good job of connecting the dots linking the Runes to the Indo-Arabic design concepts Blood Elves follow. You plunged much deeper then anyone else, even digging up old concept arts.

I think it’s a little bit on the grey side TBH. Rom was right but he didn’t explain about everything and Umb thought he was doing the right thing so he was too focused to care.

Though it was really to make the VEs look a bit dumb to sell the fact they needed Alleria enough to join the Alliance.

Aye, ergo better to work together to propose different aesthetics and designs so each side can access as many colors as they want.

Hehehe, to be fair I wasn´t alone in that. People helped me to follow that path (without Khairan posting that official artwork of “alpha Rommath” and Baalsamael mentioning the whole Henna and Indo Arabic style, I´d have gotten stuck with nothing.

“A bit dumb” is putting it nicely. If the goal was to stroke Alleria´s virtual ego, making Umbric a regular elf affiliated to the expeditition that went to Outland like the Allerian Stronghold dudes would had been good. It´d had explained why would they feel comfortable following into their boss´ footsteps. Heck, it even gives some nice dramatic touch about them finding Alleria once again after their “long parting”.

Frankly, I think the devs were forced to follow the errr… “toxic faction tribalism” mentality and this is why they basically tried to softcore villain bat the Belves but for some reason they chickened out and Umbric et al ended up paying the broken plates with a dumber and dumbest portrayal (I repeat: someone up there in the high eschelons of Blizzard truly loves Rommath… this is like the third time the dude avoids the villain bat bullet).

they are indeed. they are the same elves from wc2 that came from quel’thalas and all of the farstriders returned to their homeland after the second war. the only difference is alleria is no longer a farstrider ranger captain. oh but a couple priests stayed to help heal the wounded if that changes the narrative(lol)

its a flat out lie when they call them alleria tattoos or void inspired

in wow they were first teased for hunters with the camouflage spell and then the survival hunter icon. they have been asked for by blood elf players for as long as orcs trolls and tauren have been asking for tats/warpaint

and then alleria was the first to sport them on a model in game. but everyone knows where they come from and allerias history. only lorthemar has scars so i guess they are a pure high elf thing only with that logic

and the void elves show no interest in cosplaying as a blood elf or their themes. we are being accused of wanting to look like what we are but comically its the void elves(alliance high elf believers) that want to look like what they arent and why their npcs have already adopted and clearly distancing themselves from all to be accepted by their alliance hosts

established colors the farstriders used like blue and green, magister runic type tats should have been there when the orcs trolls and tauren got them

Good thing these things are already established in the Games/Art. So I don’t need to go point by point.

Runes are already an established theme for Blood Elves. Not just in Tattoos/Scars/Markings but in buildings weapons and such.

Blood Elves should get these with every magic color. Arcane Blue/Purple, Light Gold/Orange/Yellow, Fel Green, Blood Red, with some Faded/Black ones and for good measure and some Phoenix Designs. Not watered down for people who don’t like them/want them for Void Elves too.

It suits the Indo-Arabic inspired culture of Blood Elves.

Blood Elves should also get Dark Ranger/San’layn and Phonex inspired makeup/face paints.

Alleria’s Tentacle-Like markings that Glow with Void Energy in her Void Form should go to the Void Elves for obvious reasons.

Yeah, they were given the option to stop studying the void and stay, or keep studying and leave. They also only went as far as the ghostlands.

The whole story is a trainwreck when we consider that if they loved their void SO much, the Forsaken with their Cult of the Forgotten Shadow were just around the corner ffs.

I’m starting to think more and more that this could easily be used to give all the Void Elf customizations to Blood Elves like I said the other night because logically if they are only in the Ghostlands they are close by and I highly doubt every Void Elf would be super keen on leaving homelands and going to Alliance after being betrayed by them when the Horde has been supportive of them so.
