Why the heck is Anduin a priest?

Correct me if I’m wrong but he was trained by two paladins and a warrior (Muraad, Bolvar and Varian), he wears plate armor, wields a sword and can smash a troll flat in a single blow.

He’s a paladin.

He’s also alright with a bow.

He was also trained by Velen. He’s not one particular class as a major NPC.

“In contrast to his decisive warrior father, Anduin is contemplative and diplomatic, and around the time of the Cataclysm decided to pursue the path of a priest of the Church of the Holy Light, later beseeching the draenei leader Prophet Velen to accept him as a pupil. Similar in ways to Jaina Proudmoore prior to Theramore’s Fall, Anduin sought a peaceful way to end the conflict between the Alliance and Horde.”

Anduin saw that his father was captured and Bolvar was killed, and realized that warriors were kind of awful. So he decided to be a priest.

It’s been said a lot. Anduin follows the rules of heroes in WoW, not players. He’s classified as a priest, but borrows much from other classes, such as heavier armor, and the ability to shockwave like a warrior.

Anduin being a priest means nothing in the grand scheme of things just like Sylvanas being a hunter doesn’t mean she can’t fling purple magic all over the place.

I think Valeera has been training him in daggers too. I thought I read that somewhere.

He was initially trained to be a “fighter” (likely a warrior). That was by his father’s command. He never liked it or was good at it.

Once Anduin started to feel the “call” of the Light, and slowly realised that he had a gift for it, he began his training on priesthood with High Priest Rohan, and eventually moves to The Exodar for a while to be under Velen’s training.

To sum up, it’s what he likes to do.

If he actually acted like a priest (man in a dress, didn’t fight at all) Alliance would rage more than they already do. So they gave him heavy armor and his dad’s sword, and decided to call him a priest.

Anduin is multiclass.

This is a perk available only to NPCs. Just like Tyrande being a mix of Priest and Hunter.

He has always been a Priest. He’s also the personal protege of Velen.

Blizzard has been consistent. Anduin is a Priest. Learn your lore and stop trolling.

Trolling? Keep your comments to yourself if you have nothing nice to say. It’s foolish to go accusing people of things without anything to back the accusation.

He’s a Mary Sue. He can be anything he want to be.

I-I-I…didn’t know that. I thought he was a Paladin too…

…I mean, look at him. He’s built like a Ford pickup and is carrying all that gear.

Yea I mean shouldn’t Anduin be a Paladin now since Paladins were from Clerics/Priests within the Lore?

Because Blizz says so and came up with a bogus reason that he isn’t a paladin by adding this nonsense lore about paladins being infused with the light while priests only wielding it or some such.

This is despite the original paladins (specifically thinking about Uther) literally being a priest who slapped heavy armor on, and learned to smack things with a hammer.

Sound familiar?

Not saying Anduin isn’t a priest, but he is also a paladin. I don’t feel that the two are mutually exclusive except as a game mechanic.

Just goes to show when people get welfare loot the game starts to suck.

Why is Syvlvanas now a Death Knight who can raise up an army of undead when WC3 makes it crystal clear that she’s a Banshee whose power is taking over people’s bodies?
