I’m making this thread because of a trend I have seen on GD. People seem to blame high end players for a lot of wows problems saying things like bliz is catering to them too much there wouldn’t be a game without the casuals etc.
I agree the game has (let’s put it mildly) a lot of work ons but I don’t see how people are blaming that on the high end community when pretty much all the major greviances are universal. Many of which were pointed out on betas by the same high end community that people are now trying to blame. Do people think that casuals who play a few hours here and there are on beta submitting feedback or running the numbers of new tier sets etc to make sure they work?
What’s with the hate on high end players?

It’s a false narrative created to use as an excuse for just about anything these days. It gains traction, because people need to blame someone and grab the torches and pitchforks.

No one hates upper elite players. However, most I’d venture dont want things solely tied to appease them since they are not the majority of the playerbase.
I think it is just that simple.

Don’t be crazy, I’m casual and I’m pretty sure we casual don’t do anything at all. As for the high end players, I have no strong feeling about them one way or the other.

Because the game is structured meticulously to allow a certain type of dedicated player to prey on the center. It has moved a lot of tokens but made Blizzard a lot of enemies. From the scale of carry seller ads on A52, and the frequency I see people decked out in funnel gear with 1 or 2 kill of each boss on their profile and grey parsing, it’s a tens of millions or potentially hundreds of millions of dollars a year industry. The lead developers themselves are openly participating. It just makes people mad. The low end content is unrewarding only for this purpose. LFR players get stuff 20 ilvls lower than daily quest gear, it’s all a big joke and 99% of the customers are the butt of it.

Ironically enough, there’s also just as much blame being past back to the low end players with this exact same agrument here.
Work on, Work off.
Pretty much.
It’s a so and so thing. Some do legitimately test it, while others just screw around on it. Though this behavior isn’t a casual exclusive.
Well aside from the assumption that Shadowlands caters to high end players only, some of the high end players personalities are… insufferable… to put it bluntly. A superficial reason to hate though, considering the same could be said with the high end players calling anybody who isn’t at their skill level “bad”.

it’s mostly envy.
i personally get many players who are jealous and try to drag me down… but truthfully, i am better than them in game and irl and that keeps me happy.

If this is them trying to appease us then they are even more incompetent than anyone could have possible thought.

Because casual players are starting to feel neglected because they don’t get invited to content because they don’t put in the time to find friends, guilds, groups, or spend time learning their class.
It’s so silly, and there shouldn’t even be an argument. In any game there’s good players and bad players. Nothing changed with WoW, casuals just feel like they deserve the same stuff as good players, which they could if they just learnt simple mechanics in the game and play it.

Different agendas, different ideas, different skill levels. Basically different in every discernable way other than being humans playing an old game. People generally don’t get along when they disagree on almost everything.

the skillgap is so much worse now though.

What’s a high end player? …and how/why/would/should/can I start/continue/stop hating on them?

I havnt once seen a thread saying casuals shouldn’t get Dev attention etc or saying the game is catered too much to them and it’s what killing the game and they need to be ignored.
Where do people get that from? Because its wildly in accurate.
Can people really not see them as individuals they don’t like though? Just because they dislike someone who happens to be good at the game all good players are now disliked?

I’d like to know what shadowlands change was made to appease only the high end crowd tbh
Seems to me like no group is happy

the vocal minority often go up to casuals and ask for their content to be removed when it doesnt affect them which is really bizarre and selfish to me.
lfr is the prime example. people asking for it to be removed yet it doesnt affect high end play.
the whole casual vs hardcore argument is ridiculous and needs to stop. no one side is at fault for anything bad happening to the other, blizzard is the one making the choices.
both sides feel neglected and yet we point at one another to blame. if we’re both neglected then who’s fault is it really?
there was this stupid argument that hardcore players are quitting and leaving casuals with systems they dont want, but if those systems were designed for hardcore players… WHY ARE THEY QUITTING?

This is not blaming high end players, its blaming blizzard for poor choices focused on a small group of players instead of the high mayority. Even you acknowledged that

It literally isn’t though. I don’t know where people are getting this idea from. You can get to 1800 with a sub 50% wr. You can go WLWLLWL in arenas all the way to 1800, it’ll just take 400 games.
You can get ksm pretty easy by doing a couple 15’s a week, you don’t even need to pump it out in a week.
Aotc is a joke, don’t even say that’s hard to get.

I think it goes both ways and sideways and all over on the blame game. “Some” and it’s actually only a few who attach derogatory words to playstyles. I think the game itself hasn’t exactly been a beacon of fostering goodwill, but it still comes down to people.
I think we’ve all seen the forum swing from casuals to elite’s and anything in between coming up with reasons why it’s someone else’s fault for the state of the social aspect in WoW. There is merit or a kernel of truth in some of it, but only some just take things to the next level of nasty. (Which is just about to happen in the rest of this topic)

That’s not how I feel at all.
I don’t want any of that, anymore.
Everyone needs some love in the game and its lacking all around.
