Seriously, you’re trying to fit a square peg in a round hole with this logic. The reason you know that the world of TBC was designed for flying is that you CAN’T just take the ability to fly out and have everything work fine with no other changes.
You would need to add teleports and/or bridges and stairs to access the Tempest Keep dungeons and raid, netherwing ledge, skettis, many areas of nagrand, etc. If flying is removed, you literally can’t get to those areas without making further changes to the world or content.
Let’s compare that with another form of transportation. Mage portals. They are a quick, handy way of getting around, but if you take them out, there is no area or content that you can get to with portals that you can’t get to via another form of transportation already in the game. Portals are a convenience, but the world was not designed around them. Not the way TBC was designed around the ability to fly.
Adding flying to Azeroth in Cataclysm was adding a feature to a world not originally designed for that feature. There was no content in the old world that required flying, and zones and game assets had to be retro fitted for flying. Do you really not see the difference?
WoW’s most overrated character. I’m not a fan of the edge lords. He’s an anti-hero at best; he’s not a hero, and I wish people would stop referring to him as such. He’s one of WoW’s most selfish characters.
There are a decent amount of us (and this is basically everyone I know playing the game) who are playing almost entirely because we hope it goes to BC/Wotlk.
I hate flying mounts too but there are ways to work around this without scrapping an entire xpac that a lot of people genuinely enjoyed.
This is demonstrably false. Tell me, how do you get to the Tempest Keep instances without a flying mount? How do you complete the Sha’tari daily quests without a mount?
Flying was fine in TBC, only TBC zones utilized it, and it was done well. Wrath used it, and it was fine, when Cata came, thats when everywhere had it and flying was no longer unique and cool, its also where we saw it ruin things the most. Yes it started cuz it was implement in TBC, but thats like saying the internet started as something good but now we need to get rid of it cuz some ppl use it to do bad things… Seriously the biggest problem was Cata, Even wrath was pretty good, just needed better balance on death knights is all. So really just think, you want TBC, you want Wrath, you dont want Cata, Cata is when the game changed entirely to fit the “new” style of things, its when all the old stuff got changed and the game really got a whole new style. Its when anything from Classic wow truly died.
TBC is great, only way I would continue to play classic servers after TBC is relaunched is if they did another pass on talent trees to make non healing hybrids viable in raids, and added new content/tier sets. Otherwise I can’t wait for that to drop, TBC was like 12 steps forward and maybe a half step back.
