The problem I’ve found is that people that say they hate Sylvanas distort and exaggerate many points, selectively emphasize evidence to suit those opinions, and ignore large bodies of information I give them about the nature of reality, that do not support their opinions,
To me it’s a different thing to kill people for the sake of killing people, I mean be honest if you had been abused as much as Sylvanas had in life, had your free will taken away denied, that will eventually take a toll on your mental health, imagine if you had been kicked down and made a slave your whole life,
Anyone that would threaten your freedom and tell you what you can and can’t do would be seen as an enemy, also the moral action of sending people to the Maw to be tortured into servitude, or to be condemned to oblivion, I admit those actions are a slight hiccup that I struggle to justify, unless it is possible that Sylvanas wasn’t entirely herself, if her soul was sundered somewhat?
I mean we know that Frostmourne the blade can divide souls as it did with Uther.
Just something to think about.

Mmm no.
I think the majority of us just want her dead.
We tire of this power fantasy she seems to have supported by Blizzard.

(waves hello go Lilithia and gives her a cookie and a copy of “Co-Dependent No More”)
Also, you have tell me which Sylvanas you want redeemed because Blizzard is going down the rabbit hole of shattered souls and Star Trek and transporter malfunctions.
Evil Sylvanas, the genocidal maniac, should not be redeemed in any way shape or form.
Good Sylvanas is currently running a small B&B in Uruguay completely unaware her evil half is doing bad things.

She deserves a brick to the head. Give her the Stormwind treatment.

I instantly knew who posted this when I saw the title.

I hope not. It’s time for new characters and new direction with the lore. They’ve beaten this like a dead horse. It’s not interesting. This needs to be the last expansion putting a major spotlight on her character.

She’s going to get it… blizzard writing. Saying it was done to prepare the covenants for the war with the void.

The fact that this forum poster keeps trying to justify genocide, torturing innocents and children in the maw and obliterating their souls is quite worrying.

righteous genocide is something the alliance is weirdly proud about. What, did you run out of innocent undead to force into your cult of light?

good, lets kill everybody. Anduin, Thrall, Sylvanas, Jaina, Illidan, the player character, everybody. all of em.

explaining that she was tortured in the maw - a place where time flows differently, as stated in the literal introduction of the player within the maw - for what could be essentially eternities, doesn’t resonate well with folks. WoW doesn’t offer opportunities to feel for the characters, so how can you expect players to do so of their own volition?
I don’t want a redemption arc. I want sylvanas to connect with her shattered piece, right in the middle of the sanctum of domination, while the player characters all watch, and i want her to scream. I want her to scream and fall to her knees and curl up into a ball and cry as she feels an eternity of emotions rush over her all at once and break her. I want it to be so intense that people are forced to stop and stare at her broken soul, and i want that to be the last we see of her, ever. I love sylvanas as a character but it’s time she and all the others on this disjointed roller coaster of mass genocide after mass genocide (which has been the MO for every single main character in WoW history, including the player character lmao) to be set to rest.

If my worst self was as bad as Sylvanas I’d be ashamed to exist.

Even if there is some sort of redemption, redemption does not give you a pass on being held accountable for your actions.

Lilithia is just the biggest Sylvy stan on these forums. Just enjoy the read, laugh and move on.

I think there needs to be serious consequences for serious misdeeds in order to balance the scales of justice and give those wronged a sense of closure, even if Sylvanas ends up being penitent in some way. I’ve never liked how fictional franchises will rarely administer definitive punishment to their more popular villains in any real way because they want to keep them around as a recurring threat for as long as it is profitable to do so.
Both the death of Lich King Arthas and Thrall’s execution of Garrosh were very satisfying moments in WoW history for me: murderers receiving their just deserts. And yet the writers have managed to ruin those moments by dragging both of those characters back on the stage in Shadowlands like a bad comic book story.

I hate her because she ordered the mass genocide of the Night Elves. I’d feel the exact same way if she did it to the Orcs, Trolls, Tauren, Forsaken, Blood Elves, Humans, Gnomes, Dwarves, Draenei & allied races. Even in a fantasy world, there’s no justification for genocide. The only way she deserves any sort of redemption is if she sacrifices herself at the end of Shadowlands, but she’s too selfish to do that.

ew they offer bald for blood elves? What on earth?
where’s Thrall’s execution of himself? he shares responsibility for that genocide. Where’s all the paladin executions for the righteous genocide they committed to the undead in classic? Where’s the current Lich King’s execution for what he did to the dragons?

Maybe, there should be more characters in the game world who are held accountable for their willful misdeeds like Garrosh and Arthas were instead of fewer.
