Why so many placement games? Won 7 in a row still 1400 MMR

you shouldn’t be losing points for losses at low game count.

I think it is currently set that after reaching around 1300-1400 it is possible to lose points regardless of win loss count leading up to that.

There is some kind of locked average rating that is set until you cross that line that is high enough that it gives a ton of points for winning and loses none when you lose.

My warlock lost a game just before crossing 1300 and lost 0 points, next win got him over 1400 and I then lost 7 in a row and fell all the way below 1300. I haven’t touched my warlock much since because it took 20 games to clime back to over 1400 that is how screwed up the MMR got even when I got plenty of wins after.

Their messed up mmr system favors long win streaks, if you get a long loss streak the mmr basically gets borked and it is hard to do anything with that toon.
