All is see out in the world on era servers are Mages. And this is on a pvp server, mind you. With Warlocks, Shamans, Priests, Hunters, Sub Rogues, and Druids absolutely crapping on mages in open world pvp this patch, im genuinely surprised they’re so popular.
Is it for the goldmaking opportunities? Why are there so many mages?
It is because mages can make a lot of gold. I always recommend mage as first character.
Thats what i figured. I /who in Org the past few weeks and its always like 70% mages. Almost 0 warlocks (which is weird in classic when they are the most OP they’ve ever been), and a decent amount of warriors.
I am broke so i suppose i understand why they would go Mage for gold 
They are the boosters of choice and, most unfortunately, with a burgeoning Era population comes more boosting.
Cause Mages are the best class.
Mages are one of the best at PVP (them and rogue are the best imho)
Mages are self sufficient.
Mages make gold easy.
Mages are great at soloing content due to all their tools.
Plus it’s the fantasy of the class.
Mage is best.
ez class. in vanilla some specs are hard to actually play. people dont want the hassle.
EDIT: or there bad, which is probably the case b/c some times when someone pulls more mobs than they should have or some flee they dont know how to control it or cc/aoe everything and kite.
Newbs play mages.
