Why so few pandas?

Ive been seeing from a lot of sources that very few people play pandaren, compared to other races, and that theres even a stigma or hatred for pandaren among the player base.

Anyone that can explain why this is?

They just aren’t “cool” compared to other races. It doesn’t help that a lot of people thought they were a joke when they released.

Plus they look silly. Most mogs don’t look good in them, even the monk ones.

I’m speaking from an RP perspective, but I feel it’s because they’re more neutral than any other race. They…don’t really have a lot to do with the war going on.

As far as I know, all the major Pandaren characters are doin’ jack while Sylvanas and Anduin are doing their thangs. While you could try to play one as a double agent or peacekeeper, it’s just awkward playing as one at the moment.

I mean, I think Pandaren are alright. Maybe I’ll try to make one sometime.

The animations are hideous, gear looks stretched on the Pandaren model, and not many players are fond of Pandaren lore.

I like the females, but the males are awful all the way around.

I have one Alliance and one Horde one, that’s enough. They are more like comic relief to me, and I have them, just to have them. I don’t like animal people. Some people like animal people. Good for them. I don’t.

They’re not exactly the most attractive race - I tried to be as gentle as possible :sweat_smile:. Yeah, some like to play as an “animal” but it seems people likes to be as humanoid as possible. Hence they play as elves and human, even though their racials aren’t very competitive anymore (objective, but you get my point).

Oh, that’s another reason: racials. Panda’s racials aren’t very strong, or at all. At least to me.

I have no desire to be anything but elven personally. However, there are legitimately times I forget that race exists with how little people choose them. Then a rare paderan appears and I struggle to get my camera out to document such an occasion. Shhh, don’t scare it. :camera_flash:

There used to be a bunch of pandas, I don’t know what happened. We should discuss this at my barbecue.
