My personal opinion is that Smolderon was only the firelord in name only because ragnaros is still around some way. The dark Iron quest kinda implied that. I was just curious about smolderon turning on the very mortals who got him his position and was hoping i just missed a side quest somewhere to explain it. Hopefully the true firelord will return soon.
