Ok, I get it now. Our opinions matter because Blizzard has shown that they will do things based on overwhelming popular opinion.
Having WoW Classic is an examle of that. Blizzard did not want to do it, but we all voiced our opinons about it and Blizzard reversed thier stance and released Classic.
Think about it. In this game ALL we do is fight monsters all day, every day.
He who fights monsters should see to it that he himself does not become a monster. For when you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you. – Frederick Nietzsche
not sure ? what you find no civil on what i`m saying this is my opinion and is polite , on the other side trying to control what other user say and opinion is not better and a bit insulting for me , everyone know this topic about opinion on classic forum is because the boost , so i find this a bit hypocrite someome try to make me the moral
, this is my opinion
One voice doesn’t matter. 100,000 do, because if many of those people quit out of principle over too many retail features/RMT crap, that would cost Blizzard money. And money is what Blizzard cares about.
IMO, the only reason we don’t have WoW token, full blown cash shop, and retail features out the a$$ in Classic is because of those that would complain loudly about it and possibly quit. As a group, they certainly do matter.
So those complaining should keep it up. It may eventually be a losing battle, but it is at least slowing the advance.
And this same advice applies to the other side of the discussion. Those that support an opposing few point need to counter the discussions with thier own opinions loudly and frequently. This beleive that because I agree with a change Blizzard made, then I should just be quiet as it does not impact me is rediculous. If I like something and want it kept, then I need to make that opinioin heard as well.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion about how THEY play.
Nobody is entitled to decide how OTHER people play.
And none of us are co-designers of WoW. Player opinions are good input to the designers about gameplay. But none of us get to decide or approve designs.
One comment about the boost. It’s a feature for people that are NOT playing Vanilla and don’t WANT to play Vanilla, but want to play TBC. Tens of thousands of them, just like previous boosts. It’s marketing and sales, not gameplay. Existing players have no intelligent opinion about MMO sales methods.
I get where you are going, but be careful. There are several people in the forums that I know are in the gaming industry either on the development side or on the business side. Those individuals actually DO have an intelligent opinion about MMO sales methods and very well may participate in the development of them.
Twitter and Reddit are mostly people whining too, but that doesn’t invalidate them at all. If anything, Reddit is less of an ‘official’ channel where Blizzard communicated with the community than the forums. They collect feedback from the forums too.
Oh another ridiculous ‘don’t tell me how to play’ thread. TBC is an actual mmorpg. Everything in the game is connected. You cut out potentially millions of characters from the 1-58 experience it will have a massive impact on the game. TBC was never built with boosts in mind. The designers expected all characters to partake in that journey. The game is built around that expectation. Everything is balanced around it. And of course it’s not authentic.
But 2021 Activi$ion doesn’t care. This is about nothing other than money to them. And players try desperately to justify it. It’s amazing to watch the game go down the same path it already did once again.
Actually, this is not just about the boost. This is about how many players come to the forums and feel that anyone who disagrees is somehow the enemy and not just a player with different opinions. The example of players getting Blizzard to create Classic despite their own desire not to is fine, but it is also extremely simplified on your part. The version we got was actually not what many people asked for. It is a dumbed down version and has many exploits that were not nearly this abused at the time.
See how opinions can agree on a basic premise but differ in the details? I am not insinuating that your opinion is less than mine, just different. If you really want to get snippy about boosts, well, it is the anti boost club who have done everything from threaten other players with griefing, camping and blacklisting to straight up leaving the game if they don’t get their way.
That is where I have a problem. I pay the same amount and did not get the version of Classic I was hoping for. I am not throwing around hyperbolic threats or acting like a fool, unlike others. There is a difference between voicing concerns and throwing tantrums.
Oh, and stop trying to tell me what the motives were behind my own post .
I don’t feel my opinion should matter to anyone, and I don’t expect it to necessarily cause a change, although, it might if a lot of other people speak up and have the same opinion. I just speak my mind in hopes that it will matter and also because I mean what I say. If I didn’t care about boost or any other topic, I wouldn’t say anything.
