Of course look at those bikes in the game though. Sure anyone who played at the time got the horde bike for free. Alliance bike was instead sold for 100k.
But now, as someone who wasn’t paying, which bike can I still get? Considering I poop 100k it’s not exactly a steep price. Alliance ultimately won that contest because you can still acquire their bike in game.
Jaina’s story was far more interesting than anything the Horde got. The Alliance’s story problem only occurs when it comes to the Horde. The Alliance always has to lose to the horde. If for some reason the Alliance needs to win, then a Horde NPC will have some snarky dialog and somehow make it all about the Horde again.
You say about the faction that is overwhelmingly focused on the Human factions.
Ignoring my bias for a second, the Horde spreads the focus of their races better than the Alliance does.
It’s still not even mind you, But it’s better than Alliance and it’s unhealthy obsession with humans.
Honestly I’d love to see Anduin overthrown, or someone forcibly sieze the position of High King, either using some hitherto unexplained clause in the formal alliance agreements, or group of several of the more disenfranchised races banding together under one leader and forcibly usurping the throne.
The current Alliance’s leadership structure - and the lack of depth about how it functions in practice - is one of its biggest problems, so that needs to be turned on its head at some point.
Chris Metzen’s affinity for the Horde has come across at several Blizzcons. He is the voice of Thrall; it is understandable and has never bothered me. More importantly, I always saw his love and passion for Warcraft.
Personally, I don’t need a developer at Blizzard to give me faction pride. I’ve worked on that on my own since I rolled Alliance ten years ago.
It might not make that much difference in the long run and it detracts from the discussion.
Okay, now you are just getting ridiculous. I said “preferably without bringing up the Horde unless it is story based or an exchange” because all that bringing the Horde up in cases like this does is show that your faction is a bunch of spoiled brats whining that someone else got a sweet treat even when you also got something sweet.
Then by all means, state solutions to fix alliance game play, my point was focus your arguments and posts. Here, I’ll even start this: Make Escape artist break roots and snares, give alliance a flavor equivalent to Arcane Torrent (say void burst for void elves), if the nerfs to DID racials were not due to balance, revert them. All of these things could have been thought of with minimal mention of the Horde
What game play is not affected by:
Blizzcon representation by devs
Public representation by devs
Anything outside game information at Blizzcon
I’ll cave a bit on there being a pro-alliance dev, because if there was at least one, and not one that is for both factions, Alliance might have an easier time getting things. But in the long run, unless it is one high up (like Ion for the Horde) they might have a hard time getting things in.
You want to talk about Blizcon? make a topic concerning that, you want to ask about devs favoring alliance? you can make a topic on that as well. Just try to focus your posts and arguments to what you actually want to discuss.
I have a lot of Alliance pride. We have the very best lore characters. Of course our story always involves someone else up to no good but we have humans in our faction. We all know what humans are like. But because of the Horde, we get good guy slot because both sides can’t be the bad guy.
There is one thing that I am really mad about though. Things like Malfurion and Khadgar basically becoming Horde characters in expansions. Jaina for a while may as well have been way back when. Varian (my favorite Warcraft character) gave us a little spice bacause you really didn’t know when he might go off. He mellowed out over the years thanks to Anduin.
And before anyone thinks differently, Andiun is also one of my favorite lore characters. I’m going to be very interested in seeing how his ideals of peace are going to survive or die due to this war. I expect he’ll be fine but hopefully he’s not going to become a Horde NPC down the road.
Game wise I sort of don’t care if the devs prefer Horde. They like to eat. Their preferences shouldn’t matter. I don’t envy the Horde getting some boost to getting people interested in them like giving them blood elves (not much especially since we got the better void elves). Everyone should know that in games, the ugly characters get played less. That’s how the races are among the players and most would be Alliance if they didn’t keep working on the Horde because they ugly all over. Not just their looks but their actions. They are always going to be the runts. You don’t need your own feelings validated. Parading an Alliance loving dev isn’t going to make things suddenly feel different. If you think there’s an imbalance, there will still be one afterwards. Besides, we saved the world. They turned tale and never looked back. Wasn’t it the same single blood elf female that represented them all across Legion? Blood elves hardly ever get speaking roles in a cinematic. They’re just another thing the Alliance is going to have to find a solution for… but Sylvanas will probably bring them all under the Lich King control before long.
Tell you what, I won’t tell you what to post, you don’t tell me what to post. I am not here to satisfy your viewpoint or to stay within bounds that you set.
Dev representation is important to me because if there are no pro-Alliance devs, then that is a serious problem and most likely an unintentional slide that favors the horde. That also means it’s difficult, if not impossible, to recognize such problems, because they are surrounded by one voice.
If I wish to talk about Blizzcon in this post, I’ll mention Blizzcon.
If you don’t like this post, there are hundreds more in the new forums, no doubt waiting for you to set your arbitrary rules.
Go for it.
Look, I think it’s fair to say a lot of Alliance players would really enjoy having someone talking to them on a regular basis and explaining to them all the reasons why they should be excited for upcoming content.
Hell, I think Horde players would love someone doing exactly that for them, as well.
I mean, yes Ion talks about this stuff, but…I mean, it’s Ion. He’s not exactly great at appealling to people’s emotions or getting people hyped up about content in the way that Metzen did, because Metzen lived and breathed Warcraft, because it was his baby. That kind of enthusiasm is hard for anyone to match - particularly in an executive position where you have to oversee everything.
It’s why I think dedicated faction reps would be a nice addition. Because its essentially these two people’s jobs to make their respective factions as exciting as possible - and in turn, to make the players as excited as possible, too.
Archmage thanks for reply lol made my day Good humor.
I do plan on leveling my 3 horde toons as soon as I get this death knight to 320 item level (going to wait for war campign to get to 340-345) and get all the zones done then same for my healer…
Then can finally start on my horde toons. Hopefully horde side of story is something I can do 3 times without feeling dead… I mean Alliance got good zones but… Story is so weak aside from that awesome Arthras cameo appearance…
I guess its Alliance Fatigue their fun to play but being hero goody two shoes gets a bit tiring at times… (Yes you can be an edgelord here on alliance but its a bit harder to RP lol)
Meanwhile horde overall are more Anti Heros… and Slyvanas clearly an evil monster who needs to die for most part.
The ‘sh!t on the Alliance every Blizzcon’ meme can stop for starters. It’s one thing for Horde players to bash Alliance, but something entirely different when the whole dev team enables and encourages the behavior by constantly making the Alliance the butt of every joke.
And while I agree that they need to be taken out of the spotlight for a while, the ‘humans aren’t interesting’ argument is total bull. LoTR? Game of Thrones? Wheel of Time series? Stormlight Archive? DC? Marvel? The list is literally endless. It’s really not difficult to write interesting humans. The problem is Blizzard doesn’t care to.
I think it would be cool if Q&A’s were answered by Ion (representing the horde) and that one closeted Alliance player representing the Alliance to show both sides of the story.
Again, if this was a Republican/Democrat thing, NO ONE would tolerate it being handled by just one party. They would recognize that there is no way they could honestly represent the other party. It’s human nature.
‘Shrug’
But the first step to making Alliance lore more interesting is making the humans irrelevan- errr, rein in the Anti-Human bias Zimos.
The First Step would be spreading the focus more evenly among the Races.
If nothing else, the ‘Human Potential’ Meme needs to stop, that needs to end, They need to not be special compared to the other races, that trope is actively detrimental to the other races, particularly the gnomes who just now FINALLY are getting any modicum of importance in the story.
Likewise, what are the Draenei (Both of them) up to? Focus a little on that.
Maybe some quests helping the Night Elves set up a temporary Settlement from which to do gather resources and stage their attack on Darkshore.
A bit on the Gilneans, remember reading some of them uncursed ones are purposefully getting the curse to bolster the Worgen numbers, maybe a bit on that.
What are the Dwarves outside of the 7th Legion up to?
Literally ANYTHING with the Tishui Pandaren.
Things like that.
I know EXACTLY what Stormwind and Kul’Tiras are up to, everyone else not nearly as much.
I at least have a vague idea what the Horde Races (Except the Huojin Pandaren.) are up to.
Though to bring up the Pandaren again, I want more lore with them, I like those guys.
I do wonder how many hours it would take for USA military full power to wipe out azeroth… I assume a couple of nukes and that does the job… Sure Azeroth got magic so mabey stalemate…
But Azeroth is a very small world… so a few nukes would basically turn it into outland or so radiated hell zone… who knows it could turn fallout and people turn into ghouls… xd
