Why SHOULD the Alliance have faction pride?

Ehh no they really aren’t. They are the faction that has ruined cities, massacred populations and leaders who think revenge of any kind is not justified emboldening the horde to just do it all over again. There’s no win there unless it’s some superficial moral high ground.

And the horde doesn’t have ruined cities? I agree with you on the leaders part, But militarily the alliance always comes out on top. (Spoilers ahead)
The alliance is stated to be “mere weeks” away from winning the war as of 8.1

You guys want to be the good guys… the good guys’ story will always be reactionary. If Red Skull doesn’t do anything, Captain America will just sit around minding his own business. If Doctor Doom wasn’t trying to take over the world, the F4 will just go on with their lives.

You need us to be interesting.

I’m still waiting on you guys to be interesting though. So far you’re pretty boring.

You’re confusing lore with game play. Lore is just the icing; I’m talking about the cake. “WE” don’t want to be the generic good guys; that’s Blizzard. You’re mistaking poor Alliance writing with intent on our part.

My point is that, for a number of reasons, PvP is gone and Blizzard is literally trying to implement AI and still call it “PvP”. That’s PvE! The Alliance has been neglected to the point that horde own PvP and now, we’re seeing the problems resulting from that. Merc mode merely stalled the problem. Warmode forced it into the open to the point that they are flailing, offering a useless 30% buff, without realizing that 30% of zero is ZERO.

Again, “we” didn’t do that. Alliance players rerolled horde to take advantage of racials, etc. That’s BLIZZARD’s doing. It will take something equally as drastic to get the imbalance fixed.

So we want to be interesting, but we can’t because we’re not interesting?

Alliance players don’t write the story or choose to only ever be the good guy.

Blizzard writes the story and they decide that they’re not interested in making us interesting

This is just a thread about you complaining about PvP not about the Horde bias, be honest. Take it to the PvP forums if you care so much, I’ve lost bg’s with Alliance plenty of time, not to mention the fact you can queue for the Alliance as a Horde player anyway.

And it doesn’t matter if you want to be the good guys or not, your golden boy King cries into the sky while our banshee Queen burns innocent people alive. You’re the pissing good guys, deal with it.

How can the horde have faction pride when blizzard tries to make us feel bad about all of our victories.
I will never feel bad about them btw.

You guys are still talking lore. I’m talking about the level of fun in game play due to Blizzard neglecting and belittling half of their player base.

Where is our super pro-Alliance dev?

I think the disparity between the Horde races as far as their range of cultures and attitudes is actually what makes them interesting as a faction. Whereas the Alliance is largely united and mostly cooperative with each other when pursuing goals, the Horde is made up of a ragtag bunch of clashing cultures and belief systems that leave a lot of room for potentially interesting story conflicts. This is why the Alliance side of the writing across all of WoW feels lacking to many players. A faction that’s so cohesive and low-drama, despite being composed of dignified races with individual lore, doesn’t tend to draw as much interest as a faction that is always having to work through struggles and conflicts. And this is all on the writing team.

Oh, it’s–

Well! :triumph: /flips hair

You’re a druid. You’re drawn to inferior civilizations. I, However, Vastly prefer the glory of Alliance societies. There is nothing interesting about a ragtag group of tribal savages that spend as much time fighting eachother as they do fighting us. The only interesting thing is the ways i can think of killing them all. And i assure you, Druid. I am a very imaginative man.

Fandrel Staghelm would like a word with you. The first faction leader to become a raid boss IIRC.

To your edit; Metzen has NEVER come across as anything other than pro-horde at blizzcon or any other time I’ve seen him. Even this past Blizzcon…

“Alliance, I don’t want to offend you…Horde, where you at???”

Then, realizing how that actually SOUNDED, gave an obligatory Alliance shout.

Of course, his question is about the horde. Odd, since according to you, he’s all about the Alliance.

The Horde has a single ruined city … which they destroyed themselves. Two if you count Brill I guess, which sort of just happened off camera.

Lore wise the Horde has destroyed Southshore, Theramore, Gilneas, Astranaar, and Darnasus. And if you count Brill for the Horde, you have to count Dolanaar and Rut’theran Village as well. And an entire world tree.

In what way is the Alliance “on top” in that exchange?

Annnnnd we’re getting lost in the minutia of lore.

Let me just ask outright, cause Terran just dodged my question on Twitter: Is anyone at Blizzard - dev level or better - who is gung-ho team Alliance?

Bueller?

Unless your picture is on money, you aren’t represented by Blizzard.

Well, everyone wants new races to be behind rep grinds. I’d have been playing as alliance this xpac, but the cool new races that appealed to me are locked behind rep. I don’t have interest in leveling a character I don’t want to play, to grind rep for a month, just to roll the dark iron dwarf that would interest me. It’s just not worth the effort when horde has races that already appealed to me, which is why I rolled there back in BC.

Rep gated allied races takes one of the things that could (and once did) get someone to roll on the other faction, and blocks it with something that makes it not appealing to anyone who doesn’t already have characters on that faction.

The Alliance is never on top anymore. Back in MoP, WoD and Legion we would actually have ‘victories.’

Since the Burning of Teldrassil the Alliance has had no true victory. Every victory that the devs try to give us is also a backhanded Horde victory.
Yes we invade Undercity, but all the civilians got out, and Sylvanas destroyed the city.
Yes we Killed the rogue San’layn prince, but he was probably going to betray the Horde anyways, Sylvanas didn’t trust him.
Yes we kill Rastakhan, but we also put Talanji on the throne who is 100% Horde backing and 100% a more effective leader
—side note on Rastakhan, knowing the nature of how often dead Horde characters come back to life and Rastakhan’s dealings with Bwonsamdi I guarantee Rastakhan will make a return as a character.

Brill was destroyed by the alliance. Gilneas wasn’t destroyed, It was abandoned and then reclaimed by the worgen. Currently it’s occupied by Worgen forces apparently. Rut’Theran was only occupied by horde forces, Not destroyed. Orgrimmar, The capital of the horde, Was militarily occupied by a joint alliance-horde force and the horde at the end of the siege was in no condition to prevent the alliance from destroying orgrimmar and ending the horde in one fell blow, Even though the alliance decided not to do so. The orcish home world of draenor is completely eradicated and barely habitable. Taurajo or whatever they called it, Alongside a bunch of other horde towns/forts were destroyed in the battles of the southern barrens. Lorewise the alliance comes out on top during the warfront of stromgarde and the horde fortress there was destroyed, Hammerfell also was destroyed if i had to guess. We’re going to ravage the Zandalari’s capital city and destroy their entire fleet, I can go on.

You’re all a bunch of weak willed spineless negative nancies. No wonder none of you have faction pride lol. Me? I’m damn proud of being alliance, I played horde for a while and ever since joining the alliance everything has gone better for me. I win VASTLY more battlegrounds as an alliance player than i did as a horde player, and i find the alliance lore altogether more interesting. So, If you don’t want to have faction pride, Go ahead. I however, Will always have alliance pride.
