Why should crafted gear be good

It doesnt come from an endgame pillar

Should it be as good as it is? Or should it be a mid grade piece to help along the way to bis.

I vote mid grade so i dont need to bother with it if im doing other content.

Sry crafters.

The components to make it actually good do.

You don’t have to apologize for things you don’t have any control over.

IDK but I wish I didn’t have to recraft the same gear every season.

Then no one buys it and professions are rendered useless again.

In DFs version of crafting the component that determines item level is indeed coming from an end game pillar.

Here we go again.

Crafted gear is not that good without pieces from higher end content, like I can’t get the enchanted wyrm crest without doing heroic raid or M+ in the 11-15 range and I can’t get the enchanted aspect crest without doing mythic raid or M+ in the 16+ range.

The only things that make crafted potential BIS under the current system are:

  1. the ability to put specific stats on pieces
    and
  2. embellishments

I think with them making myth track to go 489 there was room to leave crafted gear at 486, but I’m curious to see how it plays out.

Luckily your vote counts for nothing and is just a personal wish. The devs routinely ignore player feedback unless there’s a squall all asking for the same fix to something the very recently broke. They have their vision for the game and we can choose to participate or not.

Given that some of the best recipies come from end-game content and leveling a profession is anything but trivial given the dead-slow acquisition of skill points, I’m fine with the -3 item-level nerf that’s planned for 10.2. Still strong but +20s and Mythic Raid will still be better in most cases.

The PTR is always subject to change, but this article suggests crafted gear will cap at 483

The full range of item-levels for S3 (10.2) is here:

The best mats usually come from end game. So to gear new people up quicker.

He might be canadian don’t be so insensitive

Why should I be wholly subject to the whims of RNJesus when I can get quality gear crafted for myself and my friends after we put in the effort to get said materials?

The net result of that is they just reverted the buff that crafted gear got at the start of S2.

i love that crafted gear is useful. its nice not being tied to rng 100% of the time. i remember back during nyalotha when my raid group spent 2 extra months rekilling An’zig Vra for my feral druid since it was bis and my luck from keys was atrocious. with this system if i dont get a weapon within a month i can just craft it and upgrade it when i get the crests from raiding. no longer being weak due to bad rng. i just wish that things didnt need dracothyst to upgrade them and that crafting didnt require as much effort to be able to make decent gear.

There’s sketching to be said for putting something together and being “done” with that slot.

Now, it’s never done. Crafting a piece means you’ll have the second best item (best case scenario) you can get for that slot.

It’s a dumb distinction. The gap is so small, it’s really just there to psychologically remind you it’s second place. It’s a yellow ribbon. A silver medal.

Hooray for mediocrity and all that.

It’s not like S1 crafted gear was weak, and there are still embellishments to consider.

Looks to me like they are trying to re-shape crafting back into being a BLP system TBH.

thats how it feels. when i start gearing alts i usually craft rings and a neck since those are the most annoying slots for me to get gear. i give weapons some time before i craft them since some alts are luckier than others. like my dk and warrior i got the sword from neltharion the first time i went into the raid but like my main i never got a weapon with the right stats on so i crafted it. i still never got a weapon with the right stats to drop on him even after all this time so for me this is 100% blp

I think raids should ONLY drop crafting components, none of it BoP, and all end-game gear has to be crafted.

This would certainly be a step in breaking the rackets on paid loot funnels and the like.

…yes it does?

In order to get Aspect Crests, you need to do M+16 or higher or Mythic Raids.

The gear is literally locked to the level of content you do.

If you only do LFR or such, you can only get LFR quality crafted gear.
