Why shadow priest is dominant

Having played all the ranged specs, I’d say shadow is the best because

Instant, strong AoE with mind sear.
DOTS with a mixture of stabs.
Fantasy.

That is all. It’s the only spec imo that doesn’t feel like a washed version of its former self.

you do realize that you need to apply at least two different DoTs for Mind Sear to deal decent damage, riiight?

lol

hot hot take: no (ranged) spec is fun anymore

Also losing 25% of my single target dps overnight was not fun at all

If we ignore things such as shadow word death being made into a talent after many years, sure.

Shadow doesn’t feel like a washed version of it’s former self because it doesn’t feel like it’s former self at all.

That was my point lol

Is this a trolling post?

Shadow solo survivability is trash compared to what it used to be , and i dont mean just with healing i mean even the most basic NPCS will destroy me suddenly unless I’m very careful.

imo just giving shadow more armor would fix that issue but maybe im just crazy! idk anymore.

This should not be an issue if you’re cycling through Dispersion, Greater Fade and Vampiric Spirit correctly.

Oh how wrong you are lol.

Edit: oh didnt realize the OP was being Sarcastic LOL.

That’s because it’s nothing like its former self; its Legion redesign is the biggest failure in this game’s history and the devs responsible for it should feel ashamed for the rest of their lives for releasing it.

I don’t understand why they made shadow squishy but without any of the benefits that come with that.

as an example Mages are squishy but they can Kite and do damage on the move.

If I want to damage on the move I need to surrender to madness which is fine for raids perhaps but, in PVP is likely to get me killed not to mention the dispersion nerve to 75% from 90% which is incredibly stupid.

Anyways I have moved on from priest because of this. obviously people don’t agree with me but yeah.

OP…I hate to break it to you but this IS the washed version :frowning:

Honestly? I prefer disc. Much more versatile (and I managed to make it to Rank 6 on my cloak solo)

But shadow priests are inherently not squishy due to the tools they have available as outlined above.

Should also be dispelling other classes long CD magical buffs and using silence not to interrupt, but preemptively when the enemy is already under heavy pressure.

I played original beta, played all the way from vanilla through half of MOP and quit until Legion. Changes to SP were a huge shock. Self-heal nerfs alone were insane.

I get that people seem to like this version for some reason and that it’s really strong in raids but IMO it’s not fun.

I liked legions version of shadow but this version feels like a knock off.
Does anyone remember mass hysteria?
(2% dot damage increase per stack of voidform (Legion artifact talent))

Does anyone remember that Void Form would give 1% haste paste per stack instead of .5%?
How about dispersion being 90% instead of 75%?
How about our self healing not being garbage?

I really miss devouring plauge but I don’t see them giving that one back.

Yeah, Blizzard’s never gonna go back to that style of Voidform due to the myriad of problems it caused though. It’s either BfA’s slower, less impactful Voidform or no Voidform at all, and at that point I’d rather just have something else tbh

I don’t think they’ll bring the MoP/WoD version of DP back, but something closer to the Wrath version (strong, single target only DoT with self healing) could definitely show up in the future, even if as a talent.

I think it would be cool to move Body and Soul to baseline, and add a Wrath version of Devouring Plague to the talent slot of B&S.

Then that row would be about utility healing.

A Strong self heal with damage

A stronger group heal, with lower CD

A strong self heal with lower defensive CD

It would let you choose different utility for different situations. I just think it would be cool. Right now body and soul is almost required because Shadow is so slow
