Thank you blizzard for being name-cist. i see many other players running around with normal personal pronoun names, such as Chandler, or Evelyn. Yet the name Richard is blocked and unable to be used. Why is my name not eligible? I had to make my name Richrad because i was born with the wrong name… thanks blizzard, maybe you can tell me why I cant make the name Richard.

no there is no character named Richard. I love how Dick isnt even blocked on the forums yet richard is because of its connotations. i dont go by dick i go by Richard.
How do you know there is no other character named Richard on your server? It won’t show up in armory or anything if it’s a level 1 alt. Not even sure there is an armory yet for Classic.
I’ve seen people named “Assblaster” and “Bigwang”, but Richard is too raunchy for you, Blizzard?

As to what you can name on an RP server, ive come across a “Cumdrinker” and a “Turboslut”, so restictions arent that tight.
Has anyone here actually confirmed that the name “Richard” is actually restricted as an option, or if OP is just kind of an idiot, and someone had already chosen it on the server of his choosing (highly likely)?
its restricted, ive tried on low realms and tried having friends create it, even on new servers on retail and classic. richard is restricted name
I’m sure you’ve tried it. My point is, Richard is a super popular name. It’s not inconceivable that you are not the 1st person to grab the name, even on a new server and DEFINITELY not on a low pop server that’s been around a while.
Is the message you get when you use the name: “This name is unavailable?”

i happen to be the Richard from the infamous WTF Richard disc golf video so thats why i wanted my name, its kind of my brand. But blizzARD had different plans…
