Why require Mythic+ rating to buy new Harbinger’s Equipment Chest?

I saw today that you can buy veteran gear for your alts with valorstones with a new item called the “Harbinger’s Equipment Chest”.

But, what I can’t figure out is what could possibly be the reason for requiring a Mythic+ rating of 1000 to purchase it?! It makes no sense to single out one type of player for this benefit …I see no logic to this requirement at all.

I hate mythic dungeons and only do them when a guild member BEGS me to help. I’d say that I’ve done 2 or 3 this entire expansion thus far. But, my characters are all 610+ and I’m always maxed on valorstones. So – I don’t understand why I need a Mythic+ rating to be able to spend my valorstones…

You don’t need a M+ rating to spend your valorstones, you can use them for upgrades. You need M+ rating to buy the dungeon equipment chests for alts. You also need a PvP rating to buy a PvP equipment chest for alts, and delver’s journey progress to buy a delver’s equipment chest or targeted slots for alts.

It’s “catch-up” gear. Not “let me skip progressing/playing” gear

It’s not “catch-up” gear. It’s gear that you buy for your alts.

I would be fine with them requiring a certain iLvl for the item to be purchasable, but I don’t see a reason for requiring Mythic+ Rating to buy it. As I mentioned, I’m over 610 without any gear acquired from mythic dungeons.

It just makes no sense to require a Mythic+ rating to buy this new “Harbinger’s Equipment Chest”.

That’s what catch-up gear is.

Because they are the dungeons catch-up gear. The delve catch-up gear and pvp catch-up gear have their own requirements in delves and pvp.

Assuming we’re on the same page, I understand what you’re saying that there is gear you can buy for alts with delve and pvp currency.

However, the problem I see with this is that valorstones also come from delves and world content and there is no way to “dump” valorstones when you max out that currency.

I guess what I’m saying is that valorstones are not mythic only content. Now, if there was a currency that ONLY dropped from mythic dungeons, then it would make sense to require a Mythic+ rating to use it for this purpose. But, as it stands right now, Blizzard is giving Mythic dungeon folks a way to spend their excess valorstones but everyone else is just stuck.

The easy solution would be to make it so that you could buy crests with valorstones. That’s something that would benefit everyone equally and fix the problem of the fact that the game gives you TONS more valorstones than you need for gear upgrades.

I’d not mind if delve rewards used valorstones for catchup gear, but M+ catchup gear requires a M+ rating. I think that’s entirely reasonable.

What’s the ratio of valorstones to weathered crests?

That’s catch up gear lol the fact you have to do have done something on a character prior to being able to buy it, makes it catch up gear lol

Delves have their own catch up gear
This is for dungeons

Dungeons don’t have a currency of their own.
Delves have their coins
PvP has honor
Dungeons get valorstones

I guess I just wasn’t clear.

My problem with this new item is that it’s currently the only way to “dump” valorstones and it seems wrong to only provide that for Mythic dungeon players.

You all are way too worried about people getting “mythic catchup gear” without having done mythic dungeons. That part didn’t even cross my mind – I was just irritated that I have 2000 valorstones with nothing to do with them, and then they add a new item that I could spend those on, and I can’t buy it.

Also, perhaps take step back and try to see the world through the eyes of someone who thinks that Mythic dungeons are the worst content in the game. Not everyone likes them and they’re not required to enjoy the game or enjoy endgame content either one.

I honestly don’t care about buying this new chest …I don’t need that gear and neither do my alts. I just want a way to spend these excess valorstones. As I mentioned, they could just make it so you could buy crests with them and I’d be happy. Valorstones are just really poorly implemented right now.

How is it wrong? If you don’t do M+, you’re in the same position as you were prior to this being added.

Upgrades. Their primary purpose.

If you dont run dungeons you dont deserve to be able to buy gear thats only provided to you by doing dungeons simple as that. Everyone would just do delves and use their valorstones from that to buy dungeon gear and there would be no reason at all to do things other than delves.

There is a vendor to the right of Bran in Dornogol that sells 580 gear for iirc “undercoin”

mythic plus rating of 100 requires you to do four or five dungeons on a +2

What content to you enjoy?

I’m just a curious little cat.

Yeah this basically sums it up.

Well, to be fair, it’s not difficult in any sense of the imagination to get a 1000. Just do a +2 for all the dungeons in the roster and you’re at 1300 or so (which is like…what, 8 dungeons or something?). Can knock that out in a day and if you’re dps, you don’t even need to think half the time.
