So, let me start by saying I played AND enjoyed MoP: Remix. Seeing as WoD was when I left the game, MoP was the last Expac I have memories with. And because of that I had fun re-exploring a favorite zone. Picked up some chieves and mogs I missed before. But at the end of my adventure I was left with a single question. Why? Why did I waist so much time reliving “the good old days” when I could have been gearing out my main on live? Why was getting all this stuff so easy this time when I couldn’t get it with a guild before? Why is Blizzard wasting time remixing old expansions instead of putting that time into making live something worth everyone’s time?.. Just Why.
As a point, let’s talk Tusks of Mannaroth. This was a prestige item, something a max level player would mog to show off that they were a raider during MoP and have the loot to prove they put in the work. Now, especially with TWW coming up, literally ANYONE AND EVERYONE will be wearing the Tusks because Blizzard gave us the option of going back and farming it easily. Literally get a geared max, grind a few days of heroic to get gear and bronze to upgrade that gear and then run 2 DAYS OF MYTHIC and you can get the tusks. This is something someone can do in the last week of the event if motivated.
So, I ask again, Why… Why are we so accepting of Blizzard taking the easy way out and not holding them responsible for making a live game that’s actually enjoyable regardless of how you like to play (PvP, Group, Solo)
What’s to talk about? Just because many others can mog to it doesn’t mean people who had it before can’t. I still use them just fine.
I do hope they do another remix, it’s a fun way to play an expansion and collect all the cosmetics while keeping it a little different. Was nice to have this instead of just the awakened season IMO.
This is my point. If you have them because you got them when MoP was live or just grinded them after then that’s a prestige item. That’s something you can wear to show off the dedication you have. Now it’s just a show of “you played 7 days of Remix”
Who’s to say some people who got them from remix didn’t spend years and many runs trying to get them? But I’m also not someone who sees a rare mog and thinks someone has dedication, just that they got lucky.
Very true, but still that means they got lucky while grinding on Live. Not by playing 7 days of Remix.
I want to stress though, I enjoyed my time in Remix. It was when I left that the question occured to me. Mayhaps, those that already have a geared out main see this different though
I honestly don’t think most people care how someone got the tusks, mounts, and other rare things from pandaria. Most people just want items to dress up their digital Barbie.
For the record I did get the tusks before remix, but I was lucky enough I didn’t have to farm for years, just waited for the skip and got it eventually.
That’s awesome haha. I never got so lucky, but I also gained a priest back then. But, perhaps I’m gatekeeping and need to let things fall as they will. It just upsets me to see so many people mobbing with the Tusks when I know my old GM and best friend spent months grinding and never got to see them. And he never will since he passed during WoD.
But, I appreciate the replies, it has helped me see that I’m mistaken in my thinking.
You could think of it this way, at least you’ll see a reminder of your old GM more often now! I am sorry for your loss though.
For the mounts when you bought them in remix they didn’t give an achieve I don’t think, so if something comes with an achieve but can be bought without rewarding the achieve, that seems like a good compromise imo
Exactly! Why are we allowing them to get away with this instead of holding them responsible for giving us a live game worth playing. All these man hours spent on classic and remix could have been spent on TWW, DF or BFA
This may be the best thing I’ve heard since being back. I’ve tried once before, when classic first went live, but being back in the game without him hurt. But, maybe I’m just thinking about it wrong. Maybe I need to see enough of this game and enjoy enough of it for both of us now.
Long live Bootyseller and Long Live the Heroes of Dalaran
I’m glad to help! It is hard to lose someone, especially if they are tied to something you enjoyed, like a video game. So the way I see it is I look for things that remind me of those I care about who’ve passed, and while it is bitter-sweet, it’s more sweet than bitter when I see something that reminds me of them.
