Why is blizz making it so SSD is virtually required to play shadowlands? Excluding 1/3+ of your market from being able to use your product is not a smart business strategy.
I dont want this to become a habit where I have to keep upgrading every other year just to play WoW.

Yes, we know you CAN play without a SSD, it will just be nearly torture with the longest loading screens.
You also wont be able to play competitively without one.

They got tired of the phrase “Even a toaster can run wow” and thought it would be cool

I do find it kinda funny that I believe WoW’s system requirements are now higher than FF14s.
So is the saying now, “Why play WoW when FF14 can run on a toaster?”

It’s about time, this will set the tone for some really good updates in the very near future… I hope. It puzzles me as to why anyone would not have a computer with the recommendations of SL in this day and age.

What if you have an ssd for the OS but have the game installed on the HDD?
I have an SSD, but I really don’t want this massive game thrashing it all day, so I choose to keep it on an old-fashioned 2TB hard drive.
People dont want to buy a $1500 computer every 2 years. Because tech companies go out of their way to obsolete even their own products to get people to buy the newest triple price swindle.

You don’t have to buy a $1500 computer every 2 years to have these very basic recommendations for SL.

My old laptop was barely 4 years old and it couldn’t run wow above 1 FPS on lowest settings.
Try again.

Then it was pretty bad off or had something wrong with it.

Sounds like you bought a crap laptop.

A computer with the SL minimum requirements wasn’t $1500 3 years ago and it isn’t today either.
An SSD can be had for like $40. Go mow a couple lawns to pay for it if its that wallet breaking.

Buying a computer that does not exceeded the requirements by large margins will leave you obsoleted within the year. In other words a wasted purchase. As for building a PC, no thanks, Working, college, hardware is not my major, I barely have enough time to play, let alone build electronic puzzles.

What is hyperbole for $500 Alex. Building a PC is like a lego set.

Yeah, til a little static fries your $400 part while you’re trying to put it in there. Its not for the faint of heart, and not for me. One static discharge is enough to ruin a part completely.

ESD wrist straps are cheap.

The specs on my 5 year old computer almost exactly match what Blizzard suggests for SL. I think I spent about $1000 for it then. I’ve gotten a good run out of it really. Though that was before video card and phone manufacturers decided they should charge over $1000 for their junk.
The system requirements for Shadowbringers, which came out last year, are pretty close to those from BfA. link, click the requirements button at the very bottom Both of them have some pretty stupid requirements on them. Playing on a 1024x768 or 1280x720 monitor would be a miserable experience.
And if you’re too cheap for a wrist strap, just touch the case. That’s all the strap does anyway.

There is always that also.
