Why pull for the tank and then complain?

Doing a dungeon to start getting this guy leveled and geared, get into a Wailing Caverns. As I am grabbing the quests, the rogue runs off and starts chain pulling. He dies since I’m unable to grab aggro in time and healer cant get to him.

He starts railing into both me and the healer. We shrug it off and start pulling. I pull what I feel I can comfortably manage keeping aggro on, since I only have keg smash and chi burst for any semblance of AoE damage and threat. Not used to monk tanking, so I’m not super confident in it.

Guy runs off after I only pulled 3 mobs (4 if you wanna count the one that got pulled by the raptor as he called for help.) Rogue ones again grabs a whole bunch of mobs, and I’m unable to consistently hold aggro and cause a wipe. He starts screaming at us once more, and when the healer tells him to stop pulling he rips into the healer once again and then just up and drops group.

Why do people do this? What is the point? If you are making stupid mistakes that get you killed, why try and point the finger at others? We managed to clear the dungeon after he left with no issue after that.

People are dumb.

Low level tanking tip, overwhelm the dps. Tank mobs to about half-health, then move on. Snare mobs if you can, but effectively once they get to 50%, move on and pull another pack, the first pack is done for you. They will sort it out.

I was once walking into a parking lot to get my car, only two cars were parked there. Mine, fairly normally, the other in a loading zone atop a grid of yellow lines and various “Do not park here” instructions. Some people are a bit special.

Ironically rogues are the ones underperforming in AoE at low levels.

Some people are just plain toxic and won’t advance far in the game. Kicking is a good idea in that scenario. I would also report him as well.

  1. Let him die.
  2. Let him complain.
  3. Kick him.

I’m a DPS, so I fully understand that in a BG there’s nothing easier than kicking and then replacing a DPS for any reason you like.

It wasnt that he was out DPSing me, it was that he was pulling way more than I could reliably hold aggro on. Once it hit almost 8 mobs in the pull, I was having issues holding aggro and after the healer died it all just kinda crumbled from there.

Probably a returner who remembers the time before the Heirloom nerf and level/item scaling. Before the nerfing and scaling, people in heirlooms could almost solo their level up dungeons.

Or it was someone who never played a tank class and probably long since s/he leveled any new low level toon. Most tank skills have CDs and can’t spam them but a lot of people don’t know this sadly.

Yeah, I’ve tanked plenty of times during my time in this game so I never pull mobs on purpose. Occasionally, I accidentally spike one with a tab target but it’s never on purpose.

Ran into this in temple of sethraliss tonight. DH kept running ahead of the tank pulling stuff. The tank let him deal with what he pulled and we watched him die. Sadly, he never learned his lesson -_-

What I meant was that normally you would pull extra (dps, tank, whomever) because you think you can increase group dps by pulling larger packs.

In the case of rogues however they have no AoE until level 63 or something. So it makes no sense for a rogue to want to overpull.

Share a kaja with the healer and watch him die. If he screams about it after doing it again, boot to the bum. He’ll either learn or leave the game, either works I guess.

I have to imagine that type would punch a hornet nest, then get mad about being stung, and try to get revenge by punching another hornet nest. Either the pain finally makes them reconsider their decision making process or they die of hornet murder.

In such situations talk with the healer via whisper and tell him/her not heal the dps who is pulling, that helps alot. Take healer into confidence to deal with such nuisances

I blame esports and the M+ mentality being pushed on WoW. Rather than build systems around having people group up, have fun, and enjoy time together, M+ and esports promote a race to the finish line and any slowing down is bad and should be punished.

It felt like the community was slowly making its way towards that before hand, to be honest, but rather than combat it, blizzard embraced it and made it the perceived norm for how to do a dungeon.

The gogogo rush is terribad in leveling and Timewalking….

Most groups at that level with a decent healer can chain pull without a tank at all (I just did a wailing caverns with 3 dps most of the way).

It depends on the group though, if the healer isn’t semi decent you’ll probably just flop, after the rogue seen the healer couldn’t deal with the damage he should have stopped, it’s all case by case.

Complaining when you can see the group physically can’t deal with the damage though? Sounds like a bit of a goose.

There’s a fair number of levelers who want to do a full clear to get more xp, and they expect the tank to kill everything they can pull. And they want it to go fast.

What they don’t get is that it’ll take longer if the tank and/or healer is constantly having to remind them not to do this or that, or if they actually cause a wipe (or multiple wipes). Let the tank grab some stuff, wait 2 flippin’ seconds for them to get an AoE off, and then stab what the tank is bashing. It’ll be smoother and faster.
