It’ll work just fine. Just like garrisons did.
Doesn’t mean it is a good feature.

I would love to see something along the lines of archeage, where players housing can occupy open world locations, can be seen by all players, make little villages and such. But im gonna assume it will be a single phased location that only i and party members can see.
You forget that housing was originally a goal on release, we had the portal for it at Stormwind already, but it was one of the scrapped features from classic.
In the old gamecode, that we received during Alpha or Beta, a compilation of files had tags for player housing. Like human housing level 1, human housing level 2 and also some textures for them.
A foundation must exist for housing, but ofc. we won´t receive a Ultima system, as for that I agree, the foundation won´t exist. But SWTOR or ESO, let you rent a house somewhere and you enter through a portal, which I guess was the intended way for Vanilla WOW too.
This was a huge mess though. When I played, it was impossible to get a house, as guilds did control all the plots and it was so expensive, that a single player could not afford it either, as you had to pay taxes, else you lost your home.
Nothing in this game has ever been designed to please all the people all the time. That’s a ridiculous standard.
Of course some people are going to have absurdly high expectations that will almost certainly not be met. That’s not an excuse not to try anyway.
“not exactly what I wanted” isnt the same as “wont work” lol.
It’ll be just fine if they put tons of crap in game for us to farm for it.
The devs have a year to manage expectations but the tease definitely set everyone’s imaginations off into wild fantasies.
Given the extreme glass-is-half-empty reactions to garrisons years ago, I share the OP’s fear about the community reaction but I’m confident that I personally will still be able to find some fun in it even it even in the minimalist scenario.
players only thinks they want player housing, the reality is, blizz gave us player housing with garrisons and players flat out rejected it, and was left unfinished, same thing is going to happen now, i don’t think we need a new player housing, but rather to go in and finish what was started with garrisons
I have a ship house in ESO, quite a large one. And it can move between several ports.
that’s ESO, wow is too low tech to have nice things like that
What I would really like is to have in WoW is the ESO Craft Bag. Essentially infinite, account wide, crafting mat storage.
Most likely its going to be a ton of generative AI pieces that are either “approved” or “improved” by the art team
exactly what void storage should’ve been
It might be useful, but honestly, we should have a guild hall, as they plays the social aspect. Also player housing needs an herb garden like the garrison had.
What an impressively nihilist take.
You’re absolutely right, and also absolutely wrong.
What do I need with a house? I left my home in 2008, and then it was burned. It’s the murder hobo life for me.
But he’s right what one person wants for it others don’t. I don’t want any profession tables there or AH. Garrisons made the major cities empty, because why go to SW when you can just hang out in your house and do everything there.
People are the issue.
Blizzard has a vision. It is what it is. I’m sure blizzard knows they won’t make everyone happy.
I’m a simple orc with simple needs. Comfy chair, fireplace, framed notice from health inspector on the wall, and a fridge. Good to go. Gtg.
They improve the engine with every patch.
We’re literally getting tokyo-drift car physics in the next one lol. I think they can manage “place object here, remember that it stays there”.
Wait like… sky riding, just for ground mounts?
