Why play on classic anniversary? The classes are totally imbalanced

One only needs to look at the current dps charts for wow anniversary and compare it to SoD.

Why do you guys play this totally imbalanced version of wow while there are other more balanced versions?
Help me understand

I feel confident in saying: you’ll never understand.

Because it isn’t SoD.

But almost every other post is someone asking for sod changes. The most recent one is someone asking for boons to cost 20 silver like in sod rather than 10g

why is it an assumed good to have every class compete on the DPS charts? :expressionless:

So?

You see a handful of forum posts and assume that’s what everyone thinks?

It’s a good thing Blizzard doesn’t do that. The game would be ruined by now

It’s kinda like why play old Doom if there are shooters with much better graphics. Because it’s Doom. All the imperfections make the game the way it is.

Also SoD went too far and made all classes into Wrath versions, most people asking for class changes ask for more subtle tuning of vanilla classes.

I really liked SoD, i just missed level 50 and MC and BWL and feel like its probably impossible to start playing now.

Nobody to help me gear out at 60… so feels kinda pointless at this time :frowning:

What does balance mean to you?

:woman_shrugging:

Oh no, it’s actually the best time to come back. Join a decent guild and run every zg and AQ 10 you can. Also guilds are still running MC for the bindings and bwl for certain items.

I recently got an alt to 60 and within 2 weeks he has lots of decent gear

i can play one of the imba classes and pwn.

I didn’t like the rune system. Leveling is too fast. The server has been open too long to start fresh.

You’ve answered your own question. Players typically ask for changes when they are unhappy with the current format.
The other gnome isn’t wrong,

Yeah… But I’m on wild growth horde…

Only 3200 people . Oof. That’s pretty tough to find anyone decent to come back to

SoD is not at all a balanced game, I would go so far as to call it less balanced.

Sure the pretty bars that wowhead posts every few weeks might look like they are of similar size, but this has come at the expense of every other facet of the game.

I started SoD with a Warrior, and that was perhaps the worst leveling experience I have ever had in WoW. Sure it may have started fine in Phase One, but as time went on things just got more and more unkillable until finally Phase Three rolls around and I find myself utterly failing to kill mobs in the open world.

Flash forward to two days ago where on a whim I roll a new Paladin in SoD, and absolutely blast through the first 20 something levels.

Being that Alliance was locked on Crusader Strike at the time this character was made on Shadowstrike and there was absolutely no one around, so I decided that I would go and see if I could kill some mobs around Deadmines for the Bandanas quest.

One thing led to another and maybe three hours and I stand over VanCleef’s broken body after having solo’d the entirety of the dungeon.

The point of these two anecdotes is this: achieving Raid balance in SoD has had an extreme cost in the balance of every other form of content.

I, and I would assume many others, prefer to spent the majority of my game time outside of those raid environments that are now ‘balanced,’ and so for my preferred content SoD is perhaps the least balanced version I could play.

because some people do not want to play a fair game, classic 60 is best exp for abusers and unbalanced pvp / pve.

Gnomer was kinda miserable, then all the salt about era warriors really made any form of development for warriors go on the back burner. Arms outright not getting support. It’s okay, the other classes can be op in all forms of gameplay now

hows that SoD PvP balance going?

a rank on a DPS meter in a 60 seconds encounter is not the end all be all of game balance

lots of idiots look to statistics to feel smart when the reality is they are analyzing one, maybe two variables max and think they are seeing the whole picture. pathetic

the funniest part is that those activities would be alive and well for all players if GDKP was allowed. You wouldn’t even need to participate in them, but since more people would be playing alts as a result, you would be able to keep finding groups for all the content you could possible dream of doing!

People that like Vanilla play it because things are imbalanced and aren’t always optimal. Old MMO’s have a certain charm to them, and all of those weird ideas on design are what makes them what they are.

When people ask for changes, generally speaking, they are asking for basic things that make the classes more functional. A taunt for Paladin’s is the best example, it helps one of the specs function at a basic level.

SoD, while an interesting idea, is a bridge too far for lots of people. It just brings in way too many changes, and not all of them are for the better.
