i’m seeing people calling paladin as Pally. Why is it pally? is there any meaning in it?
Just a nickname.
Laziness I would assume.
1 less syllable.
It rhymes with Sally.
Sally the Pally.
Same reason people call demon hunters and deathknights, dhs and dks. Much shorter to type.
The Paladin Pals
same reason people shorten warlock to lock, its just a faster/easier nickname
To add, we couldn’t really call them “pals” because that’s already a word with a different context.
Same reason they call me Shammy
BECAUSE I’M EVERYONE’S FRIEND
funny thing is shaman 6 = letters, shammy = 6 letters. It’s practically the same.
Yeah but somehow Shammy feels more fun and affectionate and extra.
S H A M M Y jazz fingers
So much more fun.
Just like I call Affliction Warlock…Affy
The only unacceptable substitution is when people say “toon” in place of “character.” Makes my skin crawl.
I’ve used that term before WoW even existed.
Pally = Paladin + Billy > We call this process Cutetanization (making something cuter)
It means little Paladin.
Same reason Balance Druid is called Boomkin… nicknames can be cute and fun.
They do it to try to make the paladin feel or seem weak.
I prefer Lazerturkey.
