Why Penalized for being kicked from a group?

I consider this to be a MAJOR BUG in the game, so here is my latest bug report to Bizz:

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! I’m a healer in a ridiculous TW pug group (easily doing more than half the heals in the group)…the tank is pulling everything, we wipe…there are two pallies, so I’m waiting for a rez. These jerks kick me from the group, and I’m penalized a half hour for deserting?? Whose idiotic decision was it to implement that rule?? I’ve submitted the suggestion to you many times over the years…“It should not be allowed to kick a healer that is doing more than 50% heals!!”

it is the lesser evil to prevent tanks from taking groups hostage.

i’m telling you what happened when it was implemented. instaqueue tanks would fish the dungeons they want to refuse to leave groups, forcing others to kick them so they bypass the debuff until they got the dungeon they wanted.

I’m not talking about tanks…I’m saying no group should be able to kick a healer that is doin’ her job.

The reason why you are penalized for being kicked is to stop players messing around in an attempt to get kicked.
Sorry to say, but you were just collateral damage.

Sorry…I still don’t understand. How am I messing around trying to get kicked, when I am clearly doin’ my job?? I’m suggesting that they have a totally messed up algorythm for acceptable “kicking”. I would argue that any healer doing 50%+ heals or any dps doing 33%+ damage should be immune from being kicked…why are the kick criteria soo weak??

What if that healer or dps are saying vile things in chat the whole time? Or pulling extra packs and causing wipes?

The criteria are weak so that groups can remove someone who they don’t want to play with anymore. Consequently, the only criteria for being kicked is if the majority of the group no longer wanted you there. It should never be construed as an assessment of your performance.

You never know why you’re being kicked. Maybe a friend just logged on and they want them in the group.

My point is why should I get a penalty being benched for a half hour for desertion, when I didn’t desert?? It’s assumed I’m the bad actor, when I get kicked by the bad actors??

I’m not sayin’ don’t let anyone kick me when I’m doing okay healing…I’m saying don’t penalize me for being kicked if I was doin’ okay healing.

I’m generally contemplating based on marketing, I really do think a “deserter buff” needs to apply specifically by definition. Apart from a new player’s performance, having a deserter buff on trial for getting the boot is not a seller’s market to engaging new players into the game.

Doing “okay” healing, dps, or tanking doesn’t prevent someone from being a nuisance. You’re just implementing a minimum requirement for someone to hit before trolling for a kick and quick requeue.

The system doesn’t recognize “bad actors” or “good actors”. Your problem understanding the system is your repeated superimposition of a moral framework that doesn’t apply.

The majority didn’t want you, for whatever reason, and you were removed. You didn’t finish the dungeon with your group, for whatever reason, and were assigned a penalty for not finishing.

As has been explained, this is to prevent people from using a kick to circumvent the penalty for leaving. If there is no penalty for being kicked it actively incentivizes being kicked over leaving, and that promotes a toxic environment.

If you are being removed from groups frequently enough that you find this to be a significant problem you need to reassess the way you are interacting with groups, because you are probably the problem.

While irrelevant to the point, doing 50% of the groups heals as a healer isnt enough. Even if youre playing with a blood dk (who often heals itself as much as youre healing the group) you should be doing at least 60% of the groups healing overall.

you’re penalized for being kicked b/c the playerbase whined and cried about people NOT wanting to do certain CRAP dungeons that existed in the past (like the Occulus) and people were salty that someone would get that place (usually a tank) and then refuse to do it…asking to be kicked so they wouldn’t get a deserter debuff.

Instead of allowing people to blacklist 1 or 2 “random” dungeons they didn’t want to do to BUT STILL be eligible for the bags/goodies for doing randoms and avoid this issue, they caved to the whiners and implemented this instead. They then made it even worse when during Season 1 of TWW; everyone was leaving en masse after the first boss in Ara Kara if their precious trinket didnt drop. (You used to be able to leave a group without a penalty if you killed @ least one boss).

And again…instead of normalizing the trinkets so that one wasn’t quite so valuable or I dunno…putting in on the last boss…we got even more punishments.

some people in this community aren’t happy unless someone else is being punished. God forbid they adapt their own playstyle.
