Why do we keep having orcs with swords? The army in the prelaunch event had every orc that isn’t Saurfang using a sword and shield. Now, the promo on the bnet launcher has an orc with a sword fighting a footman.
Why does this keep happening? The standard orc weapon is the axe, not the sword. Thought everyone knew this.

Orcs can use more than one weapon type. Its like saying having an elf using a sword is bad because they should be using bows - sterotypes aside wow has been about changing the sterotype for the races.
I mean in every other franchise, orcs are bad, they’re monsters - in warcraft they’re just like any other race… have good and bad members etc. Same with tauren (aka minotaurs) or worgan (werewolves - although less of those given white wolf has an entire rp system based around werewolves).
Orcs are just as capable with swords as they are with axes my friend, the Burning Blade clan, Blademasters. ect ect.
Plenty of orcs using swords going back to at least wc3.
I’d rather us just use giant wooden clubs and branches like true barbarians.
It’s the humanization of the Horde. Can’t have Orcs be Orcs now. That would be off-putting to the delicate playerbase! /OnlyPartialSarcasm
Saurfang is a traditionalist, but the fact of the matter is that swords are just better.
That is, if you go in for the pointy or cutty bits. Me, I’m a percussionist.
Orcs weren’t bright enough to invent swords but, upon seeing them for the first time after coming to Azeroth, were like: “HURRR, ME LIKE POINTY WEPON. POINTY WEPON BEDUR.”

Orcs are dangerous with any weapon. Why today I murdered 6 night elves with a stick with an octopus attached while I was half naked!

Is not weird to see an orc wielding a sword, and the orc who is wielding the sword would be probably a member of the Burning Blade Clan. This clan have a class called Blade Masters, wich was part of WoW lore since Warcraft 3 at least. The creation of this fighters were, at some point, based and inspired on real world samurais. In lore are described as probably the most skilled swordsmans in WoW universe, and if not, at least some of the bests wielding swords.
