First and for most I agree that rdruid needs a nerf.
But…
During early S1 resto Druid was nerfed 10% flat healing across board and that led blizzard realize they over nerfed it and buffed resto Druid 10% healing across board and created the situation we have today. What makes them think nerfing 10% again would make things different this time than early S1? Is it because now essence is in play and everyone has better stats scaling? What prevents the cycle to happen again if they over nerfed druids and have to buff them again?
What’s the logic behind blizzard tuning? And instead just nerfing one healer why leave resto shaman untouched? Is rshaman on the overall ladder still have a decent win rate? I hope they make decisions because they are looking at some big data from all the ladder games played not just bluntly make changes to the game.
I’d love to see them take a two week balance approach for the first month or so of a season. Where they tune things 2-5% a week until nothing stands out as broken. Not this sweeping 10% stuff every 6 months.
Idk its just unhealthy for the game and I really it encourages player burn out. I played close to 700 games before the diamond laced trinket became a thing (about 2 weeks before crucible) in every game. After that I would try like 10 arena matches every couple of weeks and then just quit again. I went from being top 2 in every rated bracket and wanting to R1 to not touching arena for over three months. The only tuning I remember during that time was a patch that hit diamond barrier for 30ish% for non-dps and a patch that nerfed purge and cyclone costs. I’d love the Riot Games approach where they shove out new tuning numbers every two weeks until the numbers look right. Instead we get this approach where they drop a tuning every 6 months and then seem to completely forget about the game.
They do this crap approach literally every expansion too. My first glad season back in WoD everyone had to deal with 12 second kidney netherwalk redbuff Combat Rogues for four months straight followed by Shatterplay and Rdruid Turbo destroying the ladder for another 6 months. The approach to balancing in this game is extremely inadequate. It’s another of the many reasons no one should take WoW as a competitive esport seriously.
I don’t think Rdruid is the main issue right now, the issue is the essences needing tuned, the blast getting tuned, classes having all viable specs, and a pretty straight forward balance. Not one or two melee dominating the melee bracket and one or two casters dominating the caster bracket. All classes and specs should be equal. This is why blizzard has the most toxic community. Nothing gets changed, one patch shamans are happy, next rdruids are happy, then arms warriors are happy. But what about enhancements? Or rets? Or frost dk’s? Ret received a 25% nerf to wake of ash and execution sentence and a 50% nerf to WOG, since them ret feels weak now compared to all these other classes.
They did already in legion and people complained about ‘the feeling of progression’ because gear doesn’t matter. So they scrapped it and made pve gear relevant in pvp. Of course now people complain pve gear now but I remember ion said they are ok with pve gear making an impact in pvp
Idk how people don’t think 10% is a lot or won’t have any effect. 10% is absolutely massive and a 10% buff the other way to any class (either healing or damage) basically makes them the new meta overnight
blanket nerfing a spec more than 10% is just dumb, if you want more nerfs than that you need to get into the actual ability numbers that are really causing the issue
I wouldn’t have a problem with such items so long as they were equally obtainable in PvP. Ion basically saying Blizzard is going to continue making them exclusive to PvE content was infuriating, since that philosophy is the entire reason I have done no PvP this expansion.
But hey, at least he came out and said it. Communication I disagree with is still progress over none at all.
You actually think resto shamans need a 10% nerf? A lot of this comes down to the fact that druids scale better than other healers with gear. I imagine this is just as much to curb rdruid healing when we have 20% mastery as it is to bring them down a bit in the now.
The way our mastery is designed though makes it almost impossible to balance without constant adjustments and a huge power eb and flow as seasons go on. 5% more mastery as a tier goes on is a 20%+ healing buff basically for rdruids (and that’s just with lb, rejuv x2 and regrowth, not counting efflo, grovetending, wild growth, tranq, etc that you can use to further boost it). I don’t think any other classes see that big of a gain or are impacted that heavily by gear.
Gonna suck for the peeps with undergeared rdruid alts though. Gl keeping up on healing with <15% mastery
