Why not turn Mana Potions into Resource Potions

Currently, Mana potions are largely useless outside fringe applications. Why not make it so they restore a percentage of any resource (Rage, Energy, Runic Power etc) instead? Seems like it’d be a good change to me.

Because then they would become mandatory.
And mana users would be at a disadvantage.

All the other resources you mention aren’t working with the same pool size and all of them have regular speeds at which they regenerate.

Mana doesn’t work the same way or rather the speed at which it regenerates is significantly slower.

I like the idea but realistically it would be too powerful for any other resource.

This would be an unintended buff for demon hunters, though I’m not sure they really need it. Which would be pretty funny here on the forums to be honest.

Yeah, I suppose there could be some balance issues. You can only use one potion per combat, but maybe that limitation wouldn’t be enough to stop it from being a problem.

They have had rage potions in the past, but because of the cd on potions a player would generally get more mileage out of something better.

I would guess that is why we don’t see them anymore.

With the cool down and how fast most resources replenish it would be pointless. You might get a couple extra abilities off while you use your big cool downs but that’s about it.

Please sir I still pop a mana potion to extend my burn phase. :frowning:

They could make mana more relevant so you actually needed them more often.

These potions already exist.

Rage potions, energy potions etc. So, they wouldn’t be broken per se, as they’d still consume your potion for that combat. Blizzard simply hasn’t placed an updated version in game.

Mana is real important to an arcane mage

Yep. Not saying it isn’t a thing for some specs/classes but it isn’t a thing for some others.

Maybe for raids it becomes relevant I can’t speak to that. But anything I play leveling at any range mana doesn’t matter.

And yet both rage and energy users already have them. Why not just add them for the other resources?

Mana Potions are mainly for healers anyway, its a choice between a fast Mana Potion or a Sleeper Restoration Potion with larger gains, but downtime. Both of which falls out of favor when the deeper you get into an expansion as gear gets better.

I mean replenishment potions are pretty darn good. I question how useful Mana pots being moved to resource pots would be? Outside of Arcane mage which is just piss poor design no other DPS are that resource starved.

Rage Potion is what you get when you make coffee with Red Bull

My Rogue sure is, two abilities and it’s all gone and it comes back up real slow.

Mana potions are not useless just because you dont use them.

That’s all we need DHs double fisting mana pots

Demon Hunters could use a buff, everyone seems to think we’re OP and #1 on all the meters so let’s make it true.
