Nah having it be its own bracket is a terrible idea.
They should just do what every single other game does besides LoL, and just make 2v2 queuable as 1-2 players and 3v3 queuable as 1-3 players. Then the game matches you up with similar CR and similar party size teammates and opponents. Just like Overwatch, Rocket League, Rainbow Six Siege, Valorant, CSGO, and many other games do without having to come up with separate garbage brackets.
None of those are an mmo.
Great idea, so you’d queue up alone and get matched against an RMP using discord, while you get matched as hunter/mage/mw where they all share dr’s, and you also don’t know them, that’d really balance the game!!!
this is how you get a real comp like jungle cleave vs mw/outlaw/fury
That’s your opinion.
I think own bracket is important to make it fair and also so people can que it when their teammates aren’t on w/o messing up their regular ratings.
In any case, that’s the point of trying it. Introduced as its own bracket, people can try it out w/o impacting their other ratings. Could be a nice way to meet people to play with and practice and get games that are more competitive than skirms. Organized play would still presumably be the best/most reliable way to push high ratings.
Cool, and it’s almost like the WoW devs shoving MMORPG concepts down our throat in competitive arena is why the gamemode has been dead for years.
Imagine being so stupid and naive that you think this is how it would go down. But nice strawman I guess.
See above.
Ahh so one bracket would absolutely consume the other and make it a complete and utter joke just like Open queue in overwatch, flex queue in league, and solo standard in Rocket League before they removed it for that exact reason.
It literally is, you allow 3 man premade teams to queue up into solo queue and it’d match people running real comps with voice into people queing randomly with awful comps, ofc from time to time you could get a really strong comp but most of it won’t be.
There’s a reason why for example League (as you like to compare them even when there’s no point in comparing an MMORPG with a MOBA) doesn’t allow premades bigger than 2, and above Master tier you can’t even premade at all.
It’s almost like that’s not the case, they’ve “shoved MMORPG” concepts into arena since its launch in 2007 and people loved arenas for years and years. It’s a whole different thing what’s killing arenas, and it’s also killing wow as a whole.
that’s exactly how it would go down with your bad idea kid
That’s speculation. What’s the harm in trying it during a .5 patch when organized teams have already pushed rating?
I think you missed this part of my post…
Rocket League and Overwatch are examples of games that does this quite well. Sorry that you skipped over that part and didn’t read everything I wrote.
The sooner the better!
You could be an outlaw rogue with 1500 rating and get matched with a 1500 rated warrior and 1500 rated mw monk, making it an awful comp with a 3 man party with similar CR’s as you say, while you get matched into a premade of a 1500 rogue, 1500 mage and 1500 priest playing in voice, and in a 3 man party. Even in that case, the second one still has a huge advantage over the first in any case.
Oh lord…
oh true

If 3 man premades only queue into 3 man premades thats literally the system we have today and should just make a separate ladder for that. They’d still have an advantage in ladder and % titles over the people that queue on their own. Why would they even share a same ladder when they don’t even see each other ingame?
Depends on whether people could obtain their rating goals through solo que.
If not, group que would still be the serious way to climb.
But solo que could still be used to get 3 vault options, practice, find teammates, push low ratings for casuals, etc.
Solo queue for arena probably isn’t the best idea. However, a rated soloqueue for Battlegrounds would actually be a pretty fantastic system.
Undergeared and unrated people tend to play with similar players and don’t have to deal with max geared people quite as much. People will be able to make meaningful progress on their gear using a soloqueue BG rating. Battlegrounds would likely be more fun and entertaining, the games would be much closer.
You would have to meter the queues though to make it so teams get similar amounts of healers and dps and a tank though, and all tanks definitely arent designed equal for BGs.
Nope. You want to play the queue lottery, you do it against other solo queue players, and premades. Splitting the bracket with as little participation as we have to begin with is low IQ.
The only way solo que would work would require blizzard to acknowledge comps. So if you play a mage your comps would be; FMP, RMP, WMP, MLS, RMD. You can favorite comps you like RMP and MLS.
They have soloq, it’s called skirmish.
What they need to do is open up cross faction queues and improve the LFG feature so it’s not the crappy 13 yr old system that it is.
