Literally you'd have to pay me to play a druid in Vanilla. This is coming from someone who picked up druid in BC and hasn't put it down since Legion. I love the class...just not in Vanilla.
The only positive aspect of druid in Vanilla is healing. I know they can run flags in WSG, I know they can offtank adds and do 5 mans with the right itemization, but it's all patchwork and duct taped. None of it is DESIGNED with talents and gear to do anything other that heal.
Some things to me are outright bugs...the helm through power shifting giving tons of energy is basically a design flaw people abuse to get decent DPS. If they did nothing but fix that helm most ferals would call it a day.
All that said, if you really enjoy a jack of all trades type of class that has a ton of flexibility, go right ahead, you won't be dissatisfied. If you think it will be easy to do anything other than healing endgame...I suggest you take the EZ mode approach and roll a mage or rogue. Why torture yourself?
"PS Please make Agility give attack power it would help balance the unbalance"
They did get AP from agility. AP and crit. (cat)
Str was 2 points of AP per str.
If you used bleeds and a varied rotations (mostly pvp) you concentrated more on Str for cat form and pure Bear damage. If you used the straight raid dps rotation it was actually mathematically better to stack agility to maximize crit from it due to only using Shred and FB (and power shifting appropriately). This is still with the consideration of HotW talent.
This crap has been put to spread sheets and proven. I'm not here to argue any point.

Why be a druid when you can be a paladin am I right?
Can't stop won't stop....
I'm still gonna play a balance druid no matter what, take the good with the bad stuff.

I LoLed... I loved druid... as feral I could tank any 5 man better than most warriors, and on the rare occasions a part had tank and needed a healer... all I had to do was swap sets, since 5 man healing was more about gear & knowing how to down rank than talent tree, and there wasn't anything 5 man you couldn't heal with no points in resto... having to respec resto for new content raids that had fewer tanks required than we had tanks is a small price to pay, esp since at that point you don't really have much else to spend money on, and you farm it up quick anyway.
Cat was just so u had a dps method in tank build and moonkin was a solo farming build, neither of those were intended to be used in party or raid. It's kinda ridiculous they let bear be strong enough to be used in raids effectively, but the general lack of tanks in the game I supose makes sense why they put the gear in & tweaked talents to allow it (tank poaching for 4 horsemen often put guilds farm content back on new content status)

1.12 is the real meta? what? For Naxx maybe. Not for anything else.
God, I hope Blizzard doesn't make Classic a private server.
No idea what your are going on about. What I mean is Classic Wow plays differently as a whole as a completed product than when it was live and evolving. It will be much more like it was at the very end of it's life before TBC and people's memories of it are skewed wildly from the live vanilla version.
My point being though is that the "meta" was different for each raid release. 1.12 was not the overall meta for all of Vanilla. There was no "overall" meta for all of Vanilla. 1.12 was the meta for Naxx not Vanilla the final product. So as of that time, talents were tuned to Naxx, gear was tuned to Naxx, and TBC was around the corner so a lot of catch up mechanics were already in place. That's why prior content was so face roll.
As 1.11./1.12 was the meta for Naxx , 1.1 was the meta for MC - with garbage itemization and everything. As patches progressed, the meta changed each time. Each was just as indicative of the "meta" of Vanilla.
That's why I keep on harping on re-tuning things. 1.12 as things are on private servers, were NOT the Vanilla experience as originally intended.
I'm actually strongly considering maining a tauren feral druid. And one of the reasons is because everyone is so negative about druids and horde druids are the least played of any class.
Of course everyone's negative attitude towards druids is greatly exaggerated. A feral/resto hybrid druid in a raid can DPS, heal, and tank some raid bosses (including the dreaded 4 horseman) if properly geared. Sure they're not the best of any of those things, but their versatility is what makes them valuable.
They're also quite underated in PvP. You can't stop them with slows. They're pretty much impossible to escape from or chase down. If played correctly they can be quite strong.

yeah, never really see druids at 60. u would get all the gear in raids. for pvp, u have a bit of an advantage cause people aren't really used to fighting druids. less practiced.
11/08/2017 06:13 PMPosted by RägeheartBalance goes OOM and you will have to auto attack till you regain enough mana to cast again, or you will have to shadowmeld if night elf to drink some water to cast again.
Feral will lack attack power, only source of attack power will be from strength so you will need to squeeze it in with some strength necks rings & if lucky a 2hand strength mace.
That about sums up all the issues a druid would face.
I kinda hope they decide to integrate a few modern changes into the servers, such as hunters having focus instead of mana, agility giving attack power and other such modern things and or changes that are hardly noticeable.
I would not be half amazed if they decide to import the new models into the servers since its just a cosmetic option in the interface to appeal to newer players. I mean a nice example would be putting a updated Tauren along side its Vanilla wow counterpart, current day model looks more like the tauren in the first wow ad.

Dear blizzard, PLEASE do not listen to this guy's post...... We don't want newer models because a large majority of us players who have been playing since Vanilla think the new models look like absolute S***. We enjoy hunters having mana, the idea of giving a hunter focus was absolutely confusing to me when it was first implemented. We want Vanilla, not Vanilla mixed in with the garbage that is in retail.
Best flag carrier in WSG by a mile. Super annoying in PvP; ridiculously hard to root or kill. Losing a fight? HoT yourself, shift forms and run away.
Probably best quality of life while leveling, as well.

One terrible suggestion at a time. FYI when Focus was forced on hunter the class went from playing smooth as polished glass to a jerky hurry up and wait playstyle where it was pretty much constantly focus starved. I don't know how it was from mid Cataclysm onward, but early on with a focus regen heavy build you'd run into dead zones and resort to more steady shot spamming than ever before. In short - it broke more than it fixed, and this is the last thing I want forced on us in Classic. There's a reason we were released with mana rather than focus like they toyed with in Alpha/Beta - it just plays better.
Also, like other pointed out - it DOES give attack power. And crit too. If you don't know wtf you're talking about, try reading and educating yourself before making rash suggestions that would fundamentally change the game.

No changes really need to be made. There are some ideas like weight stones giving druids benefits since they originally didn't or attack power buff enchants, however weighing your stats and choosing between Stam/Agi or Agi/STR was actually important to balance out. This lack of need to balance your own class and instead the game balancing everything for you, is one of the major reasons retail sucks.
If they balance hybrids in anyway it doesn't need to be in the form of DPS nor should it ever be. Pure DPS are the DPS. A buff along the lines of, lets say, Moonkins giving 5% crit group aura instead of 3% would be a buff that wouldn't make them personally much better, but could make mages better to the point you would have mage groups going "Hey, grab that Balance druid for the mage group." You can see in the design this was the kind of the intent of hybrids, a more support DPS playstyle with flexibility, but the numbers just weren't quite there. Shadowpriests were actually a good example of how to do a hybrid right and the BC Shadowpriest model was a near perfect example of how to do a hybrid right without overshadowing DPS.
I don't expect we will get even the most minor of buffs though honestly, even though I would welcome them, but they would have to make sense within the realm of the original design, buffing the actual DPS, not overshadowing.

While it would be nice for more itemization throughout raid difficulties for different specs as a druid. I think druids would be fine as is vanilla flavor. I certainly had a good go of it. Looking forward to that game again.

The great thing about Classic Druid is that it worked well in various hybrid builds outside of raiding. Gear sets actually existed for this. Sadly, and why I stress it too, druid HARSHLY lacked dedicated role builds other then healing.
So much could be resolved by adding dedicated caster/ melee and tank get sets to Druid. Just a little boost and they could do better in raids. Some balance/feral CAN raid ... but very limited over all tiers so much room for improvement with minimal impact on core raid class slots per raid. Just need to let more druid enter more raids overall.
you forgot the kitty hitbox where you had to run all the way through a target to hit said target until you were no longer behind/facing said target and then you died.
Plus healbotting was lame and your other specs were garbage.

Druid was fun as hell to play. It wasn't viable for raiding other than healing and rezzing and innervating. But it was just FUN to play.
I knew how crappy raiding Druid would be but... I still had a blast.

Not liking 1 thing about something doesnt mean you have to completely avoid it all together... Well at least in the real world, you purists seem to think its the only way.
Also.... #classicisnotvanilla, deal with it

It seems that you have forgotten that shadowmeld cannot be cast in combat in vanilla. Also as a feral druid agi DOES give AP while in cat form. 1 str = 1 AP 1 agi = 1 AP (cat form) 1 str = 2 AP (bear form)11/08/2017 06:13 PMPosted by RägeheartBalance goes OOM and you will have to auto attack till you regain enough mana to cast again, or you will have to shadowmeld if night elf to drink some water to cast again.
